After two days and one night, our group finally arrived safely at the safe zone.
None of us had been able to rest properly along the way.
As soon as we got off the plane, I immediately applied for the best accommodation assignments for my teammates.
When it came to Mia and Jake’s turn, I casually said to the soldier:

“They’re not important personnel. Just give them a place to sleep, no need for special
treatment.”

Hearing this, Mia immediately became furious.
“Alex! How can you say such a thing? I’m your girlfriend, and you… you’re just casually assigning me to the lowest grade accommodation area, which is even mixed gender?!”
I snorted with laughter and retorted:
“Didn’t you want to stick with Jake through thick and thin? It’s perfect for you two to sleep together in the mixed gender area.”
Hearing me say this, Mia’s face instantly turned red.
She looked towards the tents set up in the distance, filled with all sorts of dirty and smelly people.
Even bathing was done outdoors…
“Alex, please don’t do this…” Mia’s attitude softened in an instant, “I… I just wanted Jake and I to look out for each other. Our relationship isn’t what you think it is.”
“Oh? Then what is it?” I struggled to contain my anger, “You wasted my last dose of serum. Now I’ll have to go out and collect materials again, who knows what dangers I might face. You have the nerve to call yourself my girlfriend? Did you ever once consider my life?”
I raised my hand, signaling the soldier to take her and Jake away.
“Mia, cherish this chance to live that I’ve given you. Don’t be ungrateful!”
“And! From now on, we’re done. You’re no longer my girlfriend. Take care of yourself.”
After officially drawing the line, I turned and followed the soldiers to the high–level meeting hall without looking back.
Leaving Mia standing there in a daze.
She stammered for a long time but didn’t chase after me to keep pestering.

“Mia, we have a place to stay now, which is not bad. Don’t just stand there, come with me
to the distribution center to get supplies quickly, or they’ll run out soon.”
Jake urged anxiously from the side, but Mia seemed a bit absent–minded.
At dinner time, she found that she only received a slice of bread and some thin porridge.
She nearly had a mental breakdown.
Back when she was with me, even in the harshest conditions, I always made sure she got the best of everything.
If there wasn’t enough food or supplies, I would rather go without than let her suffer any
discomfort.
But now, she had to sleep on the ground in an open–air camp with dozens of people.
Enduring mosquito bites and the non–stop snoring throughout the night.
This stark contrast inevitably made her feel suffocated.
