Chapter 4 Shock

Salvatore gave me a warning look. “Giulia, you’re not a kid. You should think carefully about this.”

“I have thought about it,” I said firmly. “I said I intend to divorce you.”

I did not hesitate or take it back. “Gabi’s been by your side for so many years-she may not have done anything ma- jor, but she’s put in the effort. This time, I’ll personally step aside and let you be with her.”

Salvatore’s fingers twitched, and his eyes dimmed. In the end, he just muttered, “Whatever.”

Maybe not even he realized that what really annoyed him was me leaving.

By the time the auction ended, it was already night.

I bid on all 999 graves.

“Giulia’s pretty gutsy. If she didn’t have the money, she wouldn’t dare act so rich, right?” someone said.

“Who knows? Maybe she still thinks Salvatore will cover for her. Everyone knows he only cares about Gabi!”

They laughed at me, assuming I could not afford it.

They kicked up a fuss and demanded the auctioneer check my funds right away.

Salvatore turned and looked at me with that same cold stare.

Yet, I stayed calm and handed over my bank card and ID.

The auctioneer glanced at me, looking unsure. “Ms. Zarella, this really doesn’t seem to be enough.”

It felt like everyone had seen right through me.

“Giulia, I’ll give you a chance,” someone sneered. “Spend one night with me, and I’ll pay 200,000 for you.”

“I’ll offer the same amount, too. I want to know what it’s like to be with Mrs. Aiello.”

Salvatore sneered too, his voice cold. “Giulia, you need to learn when to admit defeat.”

I looked at him calmly, then said to the auctioneer, “Please check again.”

When the auctioneer finally read out the assets under my name, everyone’s eyes widened, and they all crowded for- ward.

“This can’t be real! There’s no way!”
