Chapter 8

Chapter 8

At the Vale family estate, after saying goodbye to my parents, Jace and I prepared to depart for our mating journey.

The moment we pushed open the door, we saw Kael standing in the rain.

He was completely soaked, hair dripping, lips pale to the point of blue-purple.

Seeing us emerge, he immediately rushed forward, voice hoarse”Alina… I’m sorry. It’s all my fault.”

Rainwater streamed down his jawline, mixing with tears, making him look pitiful”I never realized how manipulative Amaris was, using brotherhood to keep me trapped. You warned me so many times, but I never believed you. I kept misunderstanding you, hurting you…”

His eyes were bloodshot, but my heart felt unprecedented calm.

He finally understood. He’d chosen my side.

Too bad it was too late.

He reached out with trembling hands to grab me: “I called you stupid, said you were dramatic, made you suffer-I remember it all… I’ll change, I swear.”

“But I didn’t lie about one thing-Amaris was always just a friend to me. I’ve already refused to bond with her.”

“If you’ll just turn back, I’ll take you our home right now.”

I coldly withdrew my hand.

Kael looked at me with wounded eyes, still holding onto a last thread of hope.

‘Are you finished?” My voice was calm. “Okay, get lost.”

His shoulders shook violently, throat seeming blocked, only able to breathe in short gasps.

‘We… can’t go back?”

If I hadn’t lived through those years myself, I might have been fooled by his shell of “regret.”

I said irritably. “Stand in the rain as long as you want. Don’t block our path.”

linked arms with Jace and turned away, but suddenly heard his emotionally shattered roar behind us”Alina Vale!”

He watched me leave with cold indifference, finally seeming to realize that the once-compliant little omega had transformed into someone who would never belong to him again.

This realization crushed him. He suddenly lunged forward like a madman, trying to drag me back.

Do you have a death wish?”Jace shielded me, voice like frost in the night wind.

Kael couldn’t hear reason, roaring as he swung his fist.

[ace’s eyes darkened. A side kick sent Kael tumbling into the puddle by the gate, splashing mud all over him.

‘I’ve been training combat for three years, just for today.” He rolled up his sleeves, voice ominous. “Don’t force me to break a few of your ribs.”

I quickly stopped him”Don’t dirty your clothes, we have a flight to catch.”

I turned to the security wolves at the gate”Escort the Alpha out.”

Before security could move, Kael staggered to his feet like a defeated omega, dragging himself into the night rain until he completely disappeared from sight.

Later I heard that Amaris’s father personally caused a scene at the academy where Alpha Thorne taught, dragging the entire Thorne family into a scandal.

Kael became notorious in the pack community. Even familiar circles rejected him, and he could only hastily form a bond with Amaris.

After their mating, Amaris dropped her “brother” facade, fully revealing her possessiveness and madness.

She began imitating me-wearing colors I liked, styling her hair the same way, even secretly getting plastic Aurgery to match my old photos.

But he physically rejected her again and again, even feeling nauseous at her scent.

Finally, one botched surgery led to post-operative infection, and she lost her pup.

He could no longer endure it and demanded to break their bond.

Amaris threatened suicide, but he still wouldn’t turn back.

Until that night, she asked to “meet one last time,” then floored the accelerator and sent him flying.

She died instantly. Kael was paralyzed from the waist down, confined to a wheelchair for life.

When this news reached me, I felt only a chill down my spine.

Amaris was pure disaster for any Alpha who got involved.

And Alpha Kael?

That was his own karma…
