I was paralyzed with shock, unable to process what was happening.
My mind buzzed in disbelief as I watched Leo kneel, pulling out a ring while more and more people gathered around us.
They were chanting, “Say yes! Say yes!”
I married Leo in such a hurry that I didn’t even have a wedding ceremony, let alone a proposal.
As if to cope with some kind of process, he promised me a big, romantic wedding, and like most girls, I longed for that.
I had imagined feeling ecstatic, rushing into his arms, and eagerly saying yes.
But none of that happened.
The “Endless Summer” slipped from my trembling hands, and I clumsily scrambled to pick it up.
Leo seemed to grasp my dilemma.
He didn’t insist on kneeling any longer; instead, he calmly retrieved the ring, picked up the fallen flower and handed it back to me.

I was left weak, leaning against him.
His teeth grazed my lip, and I tasted blood, mingling with the intensity of the moment.
With the crowd cheering wildly, he swept me into his arms and carried me away.
