Leo’s eyes were heavy with resignation.

“So I’m leaving now?” I said deliberately.
I could feel Leo’s hand tighten on my arm as I said the words.
“I don’t want you to leave.” There was pain and reluctance in Leo’s eyes.
“But my leg… it’s incurable. My pride can’t accept that I’ll be a burden to you for the rest of your life. You deserve the chance to find a new partner, to live a life without the weight of my problems.”
I shook my head, refusing to accept his words.
“Who said your leg is incurable?”
Leo’s face fell, his voice dropping to a low murmur.
“I overheard the doctor’s talking when I woke up from the coma. They said there’s no chance I’ll walk again unless a miracle happens.”
He paused, his eyes filled with despair.
“But how could a miracle happen twice for the same person?”
