Staring out the window of my motel room, I watch my packmates swim in the pool happily. It’s been a few
hours since we arrived here. Kurt was the one to greet Luke and me when we climbed off the bus and led us to the motel just twenty minutes from the bus station. He had used my card to rent out the motel for four days, depending on how long it took the Ivory Fangs wolves to get here, and promised the staff that even if
we leave early, there will still be a large tip.
I did not correct him even though it is my money he was spending, because Kurt did the right thing. The motel only had twenty–five rooms, which meant some of my wolves shared a room. Luckily for me, our group consisted of a few pairs of mates, so that issue was resolved easily. After gaining the keycard to my room, I instantly closed the door and fell asleep, the exhaustion from the last few months after rejecting Liora, combined with my mad dash for escape, finally getting to me.
It wasn’t until I woke up an hour ago that I learned I slept a good twelve hours straight when Luke barged into
the room with food.
“So, when does your little gift get sent?” Luke asks through a mouth full of poutine. I roll my eyes and check the digital clock on the bedside table, and smile.
“Two minutes,” I state, watching my friend bolt up from his lazing position on the sofa in the room, where his attention went from the T.V. to a cellphone I recently learned was sent to him by this Beta Lilac.
From what he told me, Beta Lilac managed to get some tech–savvy people into a phone company, and through their help, encrypted a few phones that can only be traced with their own software. I was shocked when I learned this, but then took advantage of the fact we can use this to spy on Stormclaw, as Kazil only sends out mass emails if it is important. It seems my friend really did find his mate, and the excitement of meeting this Beta Lilac grew.
“Why is Luke glued to his phone?” The door opens and Kurt walks in, his hair damp and smelling like the pool water, but thankfully he is dry.
“My little gift is going to be sent soon,” I grin, turning to look out the window. We have roughly two more days till Ivory Fangs comes to get us, and by then, I hope everyone knows what Ivan Cross, Kazil, and Caroline did. Kurt joins Luke on the couch, a grin on his face as he and Luke watch the phone. I roll my eyes when I notice this and am glad I didn’t tell them what I sent. The silence is broken when a notification sounds from the device in Luke’s hand, and I watch as he deftly clicks on the screen. Both men stare intently for a moment before they let out an audible gasp.
The audio of the scene I videotaped last night plays first, the sounds of Kazil and Caroline f*****g one another being the only sound in the room. A look of disgust fills Luke’s face before the audio ends, and I have a feeling he closed the video down.
“My virgin eyes need holy water,” he complains, turning to glare at me. I break out laughing at my friend’s remark, happy I was leaning against the wall and deciding to stay silent as he returns his gaze to the cell phone.
The next thing he does is let out an audible gasp as his fingers fly over the screen, looking at both the images I had taken of documents Kazil sent to Ivan, as well as screenshots of emails confirming why the

betrothal was made.
“Goddess,” Kurt whispers, with an amused smirk.
“The council is going to have a field day, knowing the strongest pack caused so much damage. It even mentions you betraying and rejecting Liora so that his pack doesn’t kill Stormclaw,” the man continues, letting out a few cackles.
“Like I said. I left them a nice parting gift.” Taking a seat on the single armchair in the room, I continue watching their expressions as they get to the part of the email I wrote.

In it, I describe the details of how Caroline had her mother kidnap me, and that Kazil only did what he did to protect his pup, at first. How he made the deal with Ivan to protect me and the pack. I continued to explain how I grew resentful, not wanting to marry her, but complied with the threat looming over my and Stormclaw’s heads.
I even detailed how I found Liora as my mate and that I wanted to back out of the arrangement with Ravenwood, but Kazil used his alpha command on me to make me reject and hurt her.
Everything in there explains my actions, and why I did what I did up until finding out that Caroline was having an affair with Kazil. That for my own safety, I left in fear for my life from both Kazil and Ivan’s threats. After that, I detailed what each attachment was, how I had copies of it on USBs, and would reach out to the council once I found a safe place.
“This isn’t a gift,” Luke states, putting his phone down for a moment as he starts to uncontrollably laugh. “This is a bomb that is going to start a whole lot of s**t storms,” he continues, clutching his stomach. If he wasn’t sitting on the sofa, I am pretty sure Luke would have fallen over by now.
“Do you really have more information on USBs?” Kurt asks, the two of us ignoring Luke’s maniacal laughter. “Yes. I do,” I answer, my eyes closing as I think back to how I got the first two USBs.
“My mother started collecting evidence, right up until she died. When I received the first two from the lawyer at the reading of her will, we were told they were images of me and her through the years, and that it came with a written note.”
My eyes open as I watch Kurt’s smile fall, a look of sadness creeping into his eyes as he looks down at his clasped hands. Sensing the change in mood, Luke’s laughter dies down to nothing as the two wolves wait for me to continue.
“I know Kazil wasn’t my mom’s original mate,” I state, watching Kurt’s eyes pop up with shock.
“I also know why she trusted you to protect me, because of Kazil‘ greed. It’s because you are her mate.” Luke stops to look between Kurt and me, and Kurt silently nods.
“Like I said. When we find Liora, I will explain her death to the two of you,” Kurt sighs.
“I know that.” Silence settles between all of us until Luke coughs, giving me a curious gaze.
“So, how many of these USBS do you have?” he asks. I chuckle, my grin returning once more as I stand from
my seat. Making my way to my bag on the bed, I pull out the envelope Luke nabbed from my safe and reach inside, pulling out a small clear mesh bag.
“How does ten sound?”
