Looking out my window, I watch for any signs of warriors guarding the pack house that might hinder my plans for escape. My bags are already packed with the essentials, except for the documents in my safe. I will have to leave those behind.”
It is currently two in the morning. The party should be over by now, and Kazil must have made some excuse as to why I was not there. That’s fine. I don’t need to be part of a pack that is complacent with how these two tyrants are leading Stormclaw into the ground.
My door opens and I whirl around, ready to fight whoever comes through, when I notice Luke standing there, a grin on his face and some envelopes in his hands. Envelopes that came from my safe.
“We’ve got fifteen minutes to grab and go.” My friend is the first to speak as he walks over to where I stand, handing me the envelopes that contain the deeds to the businesses I own without Kazil‘ knowledge. Something my mother secretly left to me, that I only found out about when I turned nineteen almost two
years ago.
“I have my things packed. I thought I would end up leaving these behind, so thanks for grabbing them.” I move to where my bags are hidden under my bed and lift them on top of the duvet. I quickly pack away the envelopes, making sure they are secured before I zip the bags up and sling the straps over my shoulders.
“Let’s go!” Luke grins as he leads the way. I follow him out of my room and stop when I notice the guards Kazil stationed to keep me locked in are unconscious on the ground. I look at Luke, brows raised when he shrugs, and his grin turns into a smirk.
“Caroline likes to use wolfsbane, so I took a trick out of her book. They aren’t dead, but will definitely have no memories about our escape.” I snort out a laugh at his answer before we silently continue our escape. The pack house is quiet, with everyone that lives here fast asleep or too busy with their own partners to worry about someone walking the halls. We manage to make it outside, Luke’s Mazda 3 waiting for us, where I promptly throw my bags into the back seat and climb into the passenger side.
“I hope you know, we are only driving for a little bit before I drop the car off at a dealership. Can’t have Kazil tracking my car,” Luke states as he presses on the gas, the car lurching forward before I can get my seatbelt on. Glaring at my friend and telling him to be careful, I take my SIM card out of my cellphone and turn the device off. I will need to get a new phone and change my number as soon as possible as well.
“Don’t renounce your status to the pack until we meet up with Kurt. Ivory Fangs sent the bus and some vans to come pick us all up, so as soon as we are safely on our way there, we can then turn rogue,” Luke continues as we drive past houses and businesses that belong to Stormclaw. I nod, wondering if this is how the other two groups of wolves escaping Stormclaw handled their situation.
We reach the pack border in no time, Luke zooming through it like we were fugitives on the run. I guess at
this point, we are.
“I should warn you, I did a thing,” I state when the car begins to slow, as we reach the regular roads. Human police patrol these roads regularly, and two speeding young adults are definitely a hard–on for a cop trying to make an example for reckless driving.

“What did you do?” Luke asks, eyeing me with suspicion.
“I sent everything in a mass email. By eight o’clock tomorrow night, everyone Stormclaw is associated with, including the members of the pack, will know about the blackmailing, the s**t Caroline and her father put me through, as well as Kazil f*****g her.” The absurdity of the situation finally hits me, and I find myself laughing uncontrollably after confessing this to Luke. He swerves and pulls to the side of the road, turning to look at me in shock as he parks the car.
“No!” he exclaims in disbelief, and I nod, resting my head in my hands as I continue to laugh.
“I wish I could see the look on everyone’s faces,” I laugh, Luke’s face morphing into a wide grin as he begins to
laugh along.
“Damn it, Seth! Please tell me I will get a copy of the email too?” he asks, and I smile.
“You will. I have a hunch the Ivory Fangs wolves will love to see it too, and I need you to forward it to that beta, Beta Lilac,” I confirm, Luke laughing louder.
“Trust me, Seth, she will absolutely love the karma served to Caroline.” I can sense a hidden meaning in his words but decide not to ask him to elaborate. Lilac could be his mate for all I know, and I don’t want to pry into my friend’s relationship. We just got our friendship back to normal after our fight when I rejected Liora, and I don’t want to ruin it again.
“So how far is this dealership?” I ask, as our laughter dies down and Luke manages to compose himself so that he can focus on driving.
“Not far, maybe a thirty–minute drive,” Luke shrugs with a sigh, his eyes filled with sadness as he pats the steering wheel. I know how much he loves this car, so selling it is going to hurt him. When I get a chance, I will get him another car, maybe his dream car, for all that he’s done for me.
“It’s getting to the town where Kurt is waiting that will take a bit of time. He used the bank card in that wallet of yours to buy tickets for bus rides to the next town over, and a motel stay until Ivory Fangs can pick them up. I actually have two tickets for us to take the next bus, at four.” I look at the dash after Luke’s explanation and frown. It’s currently two–thirty, and we need to be at the next bus station within the next ninety minutes. “Think you could drive a little faster then? We need to stay ahead of Stormclaw before Kazil figures out I am gone.” Luke rolls his eyes at me, ignoring my suggestion to speed up as he follows the speed limit.
“I am more worried about whatever you used to create that email. What if your father finds it and cancels the email?” I growl at Luke, giving him a glare.
“He is not my father, so don’t ever call Kazil that again,” I say through clenched teeth, trying to calm down the
sudden anger.
“And the device I used was a laptop that I wiped clean after I saved everything on a USB. The email is a burner email, and the laptop now sits in a bubble bath in the claw foot tub of my bathroom.” My anger subsides after my explanation, the memory of me throwing my laptop into the bubble bath that smelled like cinnamon and sugar–like Liora–reminding me that I am doing all of this to get her back. I will go to Ivory Fangs and meet the new alpha. Make sure my wolves are safe and sound, then set off to find her and beg for forgiveness, while setting fire to everything Caroline held dear.
“She would be proud of you,” Luke voices as soon as he notices my mood settled.
“Who would be proud of me?” I ask, watching my friend as a soft smile transforms his face.
