Chapter 7
Tiffany’s case was indeed stuck.
I just didn’t expect Samuel to actually come to me for help.
Over the years we’d been together, we often exchanged ideas, discussing cases we weren’t sure about–it was like brainstorming together.
But since he took on Tiffany’s case, we hadn’t had a proper discussion in a long time.
He was quite puzzled:
“I saw that case example you posted in the group. That couple was practically at each other’s throats–how did you pull it off? How did you get the husband to give up most of the assets?”
I gave him a meaningful look.
“What, Tiffany wants to copy that approach?”
Samuel instinctively frowned.
“Ava, you don’t need to be so sensitive about this.”
“It’s all just work. If I were a doctor today, would I let a patient die just because they were my ex?”
“And I asked for your opinion beforehand.”
I couldn’t help but laugh: “Sorry, occupational hazard. I forgot this was your case.”
He said nothing.
I thought for a few seconds.
‘Winning without fighting is the highest form of victory.”
‘Marriage cases are different from other cases–they’re products of emotion, essentially emotional warfare.”
Samuel’s eyes narrowed slightly: “So you’re saying she should go for his heart?”
I smiled warmly: “I’m saying that playing the emotional card at the right moment might work wonders.”
Samuel looked thoughtful, and before long he got up and went to his study.
I looked up toward the window.
The sky that had been clear with bright moon and sparse stars suddenly began to rage with wind.
The tree branches rustled loudly in the thick darkness.
The skies are about to shift.

Chapter 7
Tiffany’s case suddenly made progress.
Word was that the other side had softened, promising her a considerable sum in compensation.
When she came to the law firm again, she was absolutely glowing.
She even made a point of finding me:
“Mrs. Carter, you were wrong.”
“I just had a little heart–to–heart with my husband, and he got all emotional and agreed to give me a huge settlement.”
I couldn’t help but laugh and blurted out:
‘So you play the devoted wife one last time for the payout?”
She froze, then her expression turned ice–cold:
‘You don’t need to be so sarcastic. After all, people are just different.”
‘Some people try everything and can only scrape together a few designer bags.”
‘But others? They’re just born to be cherished. Even after a breakup, they’re still in a league of their own.”
After saying this, she even gave me a pitying look, then turned and went across the hall.
But things weren’t nearly that smooth.
Tiffany’s husband, Caden Drayton, suddenly showed up at the law firm.
Tiffany’s emotional card must have worked too well–there were even tears glistening in his eyes.
‘I heard my wife filed for divorce through your firm.”
‘I want to talk to her one more time in front of the lawyers, to give her more security!”
We used to be so in love, and I’m not the type to be that heartless after a divorce.”
The receptionist led him to Samuel’s office, but the moment he pushed the door open, he froze:
riffany was lying very casually on the couch in just her slip dress, even with her shoes off, her pale legs swinging lazily.
Her jacket was tossed aside.
Samuel was sitting properly dressed at his computer.
But what kind of professional relationship involves this kind of scene?
Tiffany’s husband Caden saw right through it all and his face turned cold on the spot.
He sneered:
“Well, well, well. Now I see why she suddenly wanted a divorce.”
“She put up with everything before, but now she just has to leave. Turns out she already had her next guy lined up and couldn’t wait
anymore.”
