Chapter 7 Mr. Kendall, I’ve Heard So Much About You
After hanging up, Adam Fermor walked over and ruffled my hair.
“Kathryn, if you’re looking for a boyfriend, I can hook you up. As a Fermor, you can snag any up–and–comer you want. Why mess around with Carlo?
“Oh, and just so you know–I’m working with the Kendall Group right now. Their oldest son? Smart, charming, total catch. I’ll have him give you a call tomorrow!”
My legs felt like jelly, and I almost fell over.
“Adam, that’s way too fast!”
He just shrugged like it was no big deal. “What’s fast about it? The quickest way to get over a bad breakup is to meet someone better. Trust me, once you meet Jackson Kendall, you’ll see Carlo can’t even compare.”
I was a bit doubtful, given Adam’s history with relationships, but he had a point.
Since I was ready to move on from Carlo, there was no harm in meeting other guys.
The next morning, I woke up on my own.
When I opened my eyes on the soft bed and saw the sunlight coming through the window, the past two years felt like a dream.
There was a message from my brother on my phone. “Kathryn, aren’t you going to the university to handle re–enrollment procedures today? I’ve spoken to Jackson. He’ll pick you up at home this afternoon and

accompany you to campus. Trust me, this guy’s a catch. You have to seize this chance!”
I pressed my palm to my forehead in resignation.
After lunch, Cedric knocked on my door, saying Jackson had arrived.
For some reason, I felt a flutter of nerves.
A low–key black Cayenne was parked at the gate, and beside it stood a man in a tailored suit, his figure tall and lean.
When he saw me come out, he took a few steps forward and stuck out his hand. “Hello, Ms. Fermor. I’m Jackson.”
He had really sharp features, and his eyes crinkled up when he smiled at me. His voice was deep and kind of charming.
I suddenly remembered what my brother said, “This guy’s a catch.” I didn’t expect he’d be right on the money this time.
“Hi, Mr. Kendall. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Jackson raised an eyebrow, looking at me with a bit of surprise, and his smile got warmer.
He walked over to the passenger side and opened the door for me. “After you, Ms. Fermor.”
I nodded, said thanks, and got in the car.
During the drive, Jackson totally showed off his good manners, sense of humor, and profound knowledge.
He started conversations easily and answered my questions really smoothly.

The stuff we talked about fit together so well that my opinion of him shot
way up.
When we pulled into the campus parking lot, he mentioned that we were both alumni.
Jackson took me to the Academic Affairs Office and helped me finish my re–enrollment stuff without any trouble.
After we left the admin building, he showed me a small house in the faculty family area.
Seeing that I was confused, he explained right away. “This place is empty right now. Since the Fermor’s residence is far from campus, you can use it if you need to rest during the day or if classes end late.
“I’ll have a maid come by once a week. If you want, she can help with your daily stuff.”
As he handed me the keys and access card, I took them, kind of surprised. When our fingers touched, I felt a little tingle.
My heart started racing, and I looked up at him.
The whole vibe got really close and personal.
