I rolled my eyes, not even bothering to keep up appearances.
“Justin, who are you trying to fool? Me?

“Do you think I’ll believe anything you say now?”
I grabbed Abel’s hand and turned to leave. But before I could take a step, Justin clutched the bottom of my wedding dress and refused to let go.
Frustrated, I stomped on his hand with my heel. He flinched in pain, face turning pale as cold sweat dripped from his forehead, but he still didn’t release his grip.
I was furious and wanted to stomp harder, but I knew it wouldn’t help.
Abel gently curled his fingers around mine, helping me calm down.
I inhaled slowly, looked at Justin, and said calmly, “You want my forgiveness?”
“Yes, I do!” His face lit up with hope like he thought there was still a chance. “Lillian, I’ll do whatever it takes if you just forgive me.”
I smiled indifferently.
“Alright. I remember it was your left hand that pulled off my grandma’s oxygen mask.
“How about this? I’ll forgive you-if you destroy your left hand.
“Can you do that?”
I glanced at him provocatively.
Honestly, I didn’t think Justin would do that for me. When he didn’t move after a while, I grabbed Abel’s hand and walked away.
But I didn’t notice a scene. Behind me, Justin suddenly pulled out a knife from somewhere. He gripped it with his right hand and stabbed it straight into his left.
A scream rang out from behind.
I turned around, shocked, and saw the knife jammed into the back of his left hand. Blood was everywhere.
The bright red made my eyes sting, and my hand in Abel’s started shaking. I instinctively stepped back.
Justin’s face was pale, eyes were bloodshot. “Lillian, I did it. Will you forgive me now?”
“Justin, you’re crazy!”

Abel covered my eyes and wrapped me in his arms, ordering the others to call for help and get Justin to a hospital. “It’s okay, I’ve got you. Nothing’s gonna happen to you,” he whispered again and again, trying to calm me down.
My body was still trembling, and I buried my face in his chest.
“I’m fine. I just didn’t expect that at all.”
Once I was stendier, Abel held my face and looked into my eyes. His voice was low.
“Lillian, are you gonna forgive him?” He gripped my hand tightly.
I knew what he was worried about. Justin and I had a long history, and it wouldn’t be honest to say I felt nothing at
Abel was probably feeling pretty unsure.
1 shook my head.
“No, I’m not forgiving him. I just feel like I’ve finally seen who he is. I never imagined he’d lose it like that.”
1 paused before adding. “He’s like a madman.”
Abel let out a breath, clearly relieved, then pulled me into a hug, resting his head on my shoulder.
“I thought you were going to forgive him. What would I do if that happened?”
1fis voice was soft, almost broken.
I’d never seen Abel like that before. It surprised me. I couldn’t help but sneak a few curious glances at him.
But he avoided my eyes, and wouldn’t let me see his face.
“Abel, come on, let me see you.”
He turned away and said stubbornly, “No way. I probably look awful right now.
“If you see me like this, it might mess up the way you think of me.”
