I headed to homeroom since I had no excuse to linger at the entrance or in the hallways like other students. The classroom was empty as I suspected and headed to my desk, humming to myself along with the music playing in my ears. Just as I set my bag on the floor and my phone I set my bug on the flow and my phong on my desk, a burning pain ripped through my scalp before I was forced face first into my desk. Pain burst across my cheekbone when it connected with the hard surface but I didn’t have a chance to process what was happening because my left arm was roughly yanked behind me and twisted as it was pushed up my back at such an angle my shoulder felt like it was being ripped out of its socket making me cry out in pain.
“Did you miss me, Ellie?” A familiar male voice whispered in my ear, my blood running cold.
Noah?
I instantly started struggling in panic, desperate to get his hands off of me however I was stilled as Noah’s hand tightened its grip in my hair and yanked my head back. I gasped from the pain, my eyes watering from the agony. If he pulled any tighter I was sure he’d scalp me.
“Shh–shh, there, there.” He cooed when I whimpered, trying not to react. “I’ve been thinking about you since we last saw each other. You’ve been a very naughty girl, Ellie. Tattling to the principal and the police…not a very clever move.”
As quick as he grabbed me, Noah let me go. I didn’t waste a moment scrambling away from him, pulling space between us. My chest was heaving as I tried not to have a panic attack and yet all Noah did was smirk at me, leaning against a desk and crossing his arms across his chest.
“How are you here? You’re meant to be suspended!” I stammered.
“Not anymore.” Noah replied in a mocking tone. “You need evidence to suspend someone and the school doesn’t have any. In fact, all evidence pointed to your little lap dog attacking me without provocation.”
“That’s a lie!” I hissed, my anger suddenly bursting through my chest. “You sent those pictures!”
“Of course it’s a lie, Ellie. And of course I sent those photos.” Noah sighed and rolled his eyes. I felt my heart jump into my mouth when he started to prowl towards me like a wolf stalking its prey, his eyes dark and deadly. “But here’s the thing, you can’t prove I sent those photos. You can’t prove I put that camera in your room. You can’t prove anything and so here I am and here you are…”
With every word he stepped forward, enjoying the pursuit as I backed away until I was trapped

against a wall, my eyes wide as he trapped me. I flinched when he ran his knuckles over my injured cheek, the corner of his lip twitching in satisfaction as he watched me cower under his
gaze.
“You should know by now that no one can help you. Not your brother, not Kyle, not the police and not your boyfriend.” He murmured. “Oh yeah, I know about Aiden and don’t think for a second that he can save you from what’s coming because he can’t. No one can.” (2)
My stomach turned when he dissolved the small amount of space between us, his tall build pressing and crowding me into the wall. I tried to push him away but he slapped my hands away as if they were nothing more than pesky flies. No amount of shoving on my part was making him move. He simply watched me struggling calmly until I felt myself give in, shrinking under his hard gaze. Only then did he move, his hand coming to curl around my throat, squeezing just enough that I felt it but didn’t completely close off my airway.
