Aiden had eaten away the space between us with ease despite my efforts and I was now trapped in a corner, ask back so I could look at Aiden now that he towered over me, immediately his familiar scent engulfed me and I felt a thirs going down my spine, thinking how amazing it would be to be wrapped in those arms and pressing into thet hard wall of muscle. I could make out the pulse in his throat fluttering under that sun kissed skin and I licked my lips as i imagined chasing it with my tongue.

“Ellie.”

Aiden’s voice was thick with emotion and I glanced up into those brilliant blue eyes falling into their spell willingly.! needed a moment where I wasn’t being tormented by everything in my life, For a few blissful moments, I felt calin lost in the tranquil waters that Aiden’s eyes reminded me of.

But as I focused on Aiden again, I knew there was more in those eyes watching me. The intensity sent liquid heat to post in my core and my heart fluttered like a bird’s wings. It had felt like lifetime ago when I last got to see him this close of when we last kissed. I vaguely remembered Kyle telling me Tammy and Aiden had split and I wanted to talk about that bet now wasn’t the time. It wasn’t a can of worms I was ready to explore,

“Ellie, I know you have been through a lot and I would never do anything to hurt you.” Aiden finally spoke, his body leaning into me. “But you biting your bottom lip like that is wearing on all the control I have left.”

I hadn’t realised I was doing it and I felt my bruised cheeks heat up demurely, How had the bruised split not jolt me out of my thoughts when I bit into it?

“Sorry.” I whispered and yet part of me wasn’t.

“I’m going to be around more.” Aiden finally stated. “I want to make sure you’ll be okay and safe.”

“You don’t need to do that…”

“I’m not arguing about this, Ellie.” His tone put an end to any debate. “You should get some rest. I will make some dinner for when you get up.” He pulled away slowly and I thought I saw reluctance in his eyes.

“Why did you and Tammy break up?”

So much for waiting until later.

I watched Aiden still at my words. He had turned away by now so all I could see was the broad expanse of his back under that crisp white t–shirt. The stillness was uncomfortable and I suddenly regretted saying something. Surely it was a raw nerve and I had chosen to recklessly pick at it. I opened my mouth to say something; retract my question maybe but Aiden turned around, his eyes dark but it wasn’t with anger or hurt. It was hot and intense and I felt my breath catch

throat.

He sighed, closing his eyes. “Because Tammy isn’t the girl I want to be with.”

I frowned as his eyes opened again. That maelstrom of emotions was there again in his eyes and its heat licked over my

skin.

Tammy and I were never serious, Bille.” He carried on. “We have always been more like friends with benefits but yes thi time we tried dating but it didn’t feel right. I have feelings for someone else.

“So is that why you argued?” I asked. “Because you like someone else.”

Aiden chuckled, the sound catching me off guard.

“We were arguing because Tammy got another speeding ticket and couldn’t pay the fine.” He explained.

“What?” I blinked. “So it wasn’t to do with breaking or…” I blushed when I thought about my birthday.

It was like Aiden could read my mind because his lips quirked into an amused smile.

I gasped when Aiden’s hand slid to the nape of my neck, pulling me in gently as his warm soft lips found mine in a hungry but gentle kiss. I melted into the kiss immediately, my hands working on their own accord to slide up the hard expanse of Aiden’s torso until they found his broad and muscled shoulders. The kiss maybe lasted a few seconds but it felt like a blissful eternity to me and I stopped the whimper of disappointment when Aiden pulled away slowly.

“I’ve told you before,” He murmured, the vibration of the sound sent chills over my skin. “You’re my girl. I wouldn’t throw you under the bus like that. I will do whatever it takes to make you trust me and if that means putting space between Tammy and me and being around more then, that’s what I’m going to do. Because I want you Ellie. I want to make you laugh, I want to kiss you and I want to make you scream my name when you let me make love to you.”
