Chapter 53
an: Firstly, I am back from Crete, yay! Secondly, someone asked if I plan to do a chapter from Boat’s percepine be i want to know of anyone would be interest in that?
I was grateful when I was finally allowed to go home. At first the doctor had insisted I stay in for another night under observation due to how much of the drug I had ingested but I was ready to go home and hide in the safety of my hand. I still didn’t know how I had gone from being on the top floor of some strangers house to being hit by a car and I hoped that Kyle might at least be able to fill me in a bit more. I hadn’t seen him since that night but I wasn’t sure if it was because he was insisting on staying away or if he wasn’t allowed to visit because he wasn’t family. I hoped it was the
latter.
Aiden stayed close by but few words were shared between us. That dark murderous look had remained in his eyes thought I wasn’t looking and I couldn’t work out who he was angry with. I was too scared to ask in case it was me or was being misdirected onto an innocent party.
I had also come to realise my phone was missing. Eventually one of the nurses located it amongst my other personal belongings, the screen cracked and was unusable. It was just another issue to worry about but not right now.
I endured another examination (although it didn’t include another rape kit thankfully) as well as a lecture on possible withdrawal symptoms from the rohypnol as my body flushed it out. I also had a nice gash on my head and scraped on my knees and palms that required daily attention for a few days to avoid infection and promote healing. My wrist was luckily only sprained and with some support it would heal nicely on its own.
By the end of all of that and the silent drive home in Aiden’s truck, I was exhausted. My limbs felt heavy and my eyes were struggling to stay open. All I could think about was a shower and bed but Aiden seemed to have other ideas.
“Ellie,” his deep rich voice hinted at the troubling thoughts he was suffering. “We need to talk.”
“I’m really tired, Aiden…” I trailed off when I saw the seriousness in his eyes, those blue eyes cutting into me.
Sighing, I moved to the couch and sat down carefully, to try and avoid unsettling any of injuries. I was now verging on being excruciatingly stiff as well as sore; a combination that was never good. It wasn’t easy and I found myself sitting uncomfortably on the edge of the seat cushion, my eyes following Aiden as his presence crowded the living room.
“Why did you go to that party?” He finally asked.
I frowned a little, confused by the random question. “Because Kyle invited me.”
“And you thought going to a party full of complete strangers would be a good idea?” Aiden’s voice was stony and I suddenly felt like a small child in trouble.
“Not all strangers.” I countered. “Kyle was there and so was Max, Bianca and Jesse.”
“And just how well do you know those three?” Aiden raised an eyebrow, arms crossing over his chest.
Now was a terrible time to become distracted but the moment Aiden crossed his arms, I couldn’t help but be transfixed by how his white t–shirt pulled taut over his chest and biceps. The material was close to ripping apart and exposing golden skin and tattoos as well as every plane and groove of muscle.

Chapter 53
My mouth dried at the thought.
“Ellie?”
I blinked and forced myself to focus on anything but Aiden knowing I would become distracted again by fils eyes of ther
thick arms.
“Why do you care?” I muttered. “This could have happened to anyone.”
“But it didn’t, Ellie.” Aiden growled and stepped towards me. No one else had their drink spiked. No one else was frantically running into traffic claiming someone was trying to kidnap them. Only you.”
“So what?” I cried out in exasperation, forcing myself to my feet. ‘How was I meant to know this was going to happen? I just wanted to have a little fun ****
“A little fun?” Aiden’s eyebrows flicked up towards his hairline, his eyes blazing. “You went to a party full of complete
strangers!”
“Kyle was there!”
