Chapter 29

It took everything I had to stop my fingers trembling with nerves as I made coffee for the three of us, I found myself trying to make as little noise as possible as if I didn’t want to be discovered. It was a ridiculous thought considering this was my house and Kyle and Aiden knew where I was. Still, I prayed I didn’t draw attention to myself, I wasn’t ready to have those mountain blue eyes staring back at me

My heart fluttered at the thought, heat creeping into my cheeks again as I watched the coffee drip into the glass jug steadily. I had always found the scent of fresh coffee soothing despite the fact that it’s caffeine content was meant to do the exact opposite. It was part of the reason I liked working at the diner. That and Barry and Sheila were so nice to me like grandparents

Finishing up, I picked up Aiden and Kyle’s drinks, heading back out to the living room. Kyle was gone, the TV still on and Aiden was still sat outside, leaning against the doorframe. I studied his profile for a moment while he was distracted by the view outside. However, I quickly looked away when Aiden turned to look my way

Where’s Kyle?I asked as I carefully put the mugs down

Showering.Aiden answered, his voice much closer than I was expecting, making me jump

I glanced over my shoulder at him, my breath catching in my throat when I saw just how close he really was. His ocean blue eyes were bright and mischievous as he leaned past me to pick up a mug. The soft brush of his fingers against my hand sent chills across my body and my cheeks heated up into a blush

He’ll be gone for a while.Aiden added as he took a sip of the scolding liquid and moved to sit on the couch

I couldn’t work out if Aiden was just making a comment or if he was hinting at something. In any case, I ignored it. My nerves were all over the place, last night still fresh in my mind to the point my lips still tingled when I thought about the way Aiden had kissed me and how his hands felt when skimming over my bare skin. I knew it was wrong to be thinking of such things. Aiden was spoken for and yet I could distinctly remember he kissed me. Had he meant to? Had he been drunk? I struggled to believe it given he had been acting perfectly normal. Then why had he done it? I wanted to ask but I feared what the answer would be and I couldn’t bring myself to utter any words relating to that moment last night

Your bar is nice.I finally managed to get out as I sank onto the opposite of the couch, leaning my back against the armrest. Aiden gave no response, his cobalt eyes watching my every move. Your friends seem nice.I carried on, desperate to fill the silence. You seem popular.”

Aiden was unnervingly silent as he brought the mug to his lips and took another sip of his coffee. The silence was killing me and with every second that past, I felt myself crumbling under the weight of it. Yet Aiden remained unaffected, moving with all the calm and grace I wished I was feeling as he set his mug down on the coffee table, the muscles under his tshirt flexing from the slight movement

In a flash, his arm shot out, his large hand/wrapping around my ankle. He tugged me over with ease making me yelp as I was pulled onto my back over the couch cushions. My body tensed in shock, eyes wide when Aiden grabbed my hips and pulled me to him. In a split second I was straddling Aiden’s lap as he pulled me flush against him. The heat of his body

kedly over my skin causing my breath to catch in my throat. pressed against mine danced

“Aiden!I squeaked embarrassingly. What are you doing?”

Picking up where we left off last night. He purred as he said it, burying his face into my neck as his fingers buried themselves into my hair to pull me closer.
