Chapter 27
I was stunned, pinioned to the spot as I felt the heat of Aiden’s lips against mine. I couldn’t comprehend what was happening even as I felt, Aiden’s body pressed flush against me, his fingers burning into my skin where his hands gripped my waist, pulling me close and holding me there. My heart fluttered in my chest like a caged bird. Aiden was urging me to react, to kiss him back and give in. The fog of surprise in my mind lifted only to be replaced by something else, something that reacted to the feeling of Aiden’s skin on mine and with that, I gave in and kissed Aiden back.
My receptiveness to Aiden’s mouth seemed to encourage him and I felt one of his hands slip under the fabric of my top to glide to my lower back. His heat set my skin on fire, delicious electricity licking over my skin to my core making my stomach clench. The intensity made me gasp, my lips parting which Aiden took as an invitation and let his tongue explore my mouth.
A soft moan was forced from me as Aiden explored my mouth and my skin with his fingers. I didn’t think it was possible to have such a reaction to someone like this and yet my knees were about to buckle from under me as chills ran down my spine.
However, as quickly as it began, the spell was broken by the door behind Aiden opening. Panic shot into my chest and I pulled back like Aiden had burnt me praying whoever had stepped out hadn’t just seen what was happening. I looked up to see Aiden’s flash in annoyance, his frustrated huff fanning over me as he pulled away.
“Hey Aiden, Tammy’s looking for you.” An unfamiliar male voice spoke up.
“Yeah, I’ll be there in a minute, I’m just having a cigarette.” Aiden replied, his voice steady while his eyes never left me. Hunger filled his eyes, dark and stormy.
Whoever it was seemed to buy the excuse because the door shut again leaving us alone in the frigid night. For what seemed like an eternity neither of us spoke as I found myself rooted to the spot, staring up into Aiden’s ocean eyes. Reality sobered me up pretty quickly as I realised the magnitude of what had just happened. I had kissed Aiden or rather, he had kissed me and I had welcomed it like a starved man at a buffet. My heart was still pounding in my chest however the euphoria was quickly being extinguished by the icy fingers of guilt.
Tammy.
“I should go.” I muttered, taking a step away.
“Ellie…” He grabbed my wrist, pulling me back. “Stay.”
I shook my head, unable to look at him. God, I was so ashamed of myself! What kind of person kisses their friend’s boyfriend while said friend was only a few meters away? I wanted the ground to open up right then and swallow me whole. This wasn’t supposed to be how tonight went!
I squeezed my eyes shut as I felt a finger under my chin, tilting my face upwards. I knew if I looked at Aiden I would fall under his spell again and I wouldn’t be able to stop longing to feel those lips on mine over and over until they were all I cared about. I just needed to be strong.
“Ellie, look at me.” He breathed and I could tell without looking how close his face was to mine.
My resolve crumbled like dust as the timbre of his voice sank into my veins like honeyed wine. I let out a shaky breath, opening my eyes to stare up at Aiden once more. I could see him studying me, his eyes flickering over my features as if he was drinking me in. The pad of his thumb gently brushed over my bottom lip, eyes darkening with something hot and carnal. I couldn’t fathom what he was thinking right now, however the look he was giving me was my heart into a frenzy and a ball of delicious heat to my core.
