Chapter 16
If Noah wanted to get to me, Kyle was making it difficult.
Both Noah and Kyle were in my first class. Kyle and I had already taken our seats before the rest of the class turned up. Kyle insisted on sitting next to me even though I tried to convince him not to. He ignored me and sat next to me anyway, going on about a new game we were both looking forward to seeing
come out.
Bit by bit, the other students appeared and took their seats. A few of the girls naturally clocked Kyle. Why wouldn’t they? He was new, good looking and gave off a bad boy vibe much like his cousin. Kyle knew the attention he was getting as well and I watched as he flashed a few of them a charming and playful smile.
You’re shameless.” I muttered looking down at my book and shaking my head softly.
“Yup.” Kyle chuckled. “Oh hey, here comes that guy from the parking lot everyone was treating like a movie star.”
I tensed and glanced up before I could stop myself. Sure enough, in walked Noah with two of his followers. His eyes closed a tense circuit with mine. My blood ran cold as those obsidian eyes locked on me and I could feel his anger and hatred radiating towards me from across the room. Again his eyes slowly moved to Kyle who, for the moment, was looking at his phone so oblivious to the daggers being shot his way.
I watched in horror as Noah walked towards us, seeming to ignore me for now and focusing all his volatile energy on the boy next to me.
“Oh god, Kyle…” I stuttered.
“Hm?” Kyle looked up at me, eyebrows raised over clueless brown eyes.
“You. New kid.” Noah’s voice cut me off before I could even utter another sound. “Move. You’re in my seat.”
Oh no.
“I don’t see your name on it.” Kyle replied, leaning back to size Noah up. “Plenty of seats elsewhere.”
“And yet you’re in the one I want.” Noah retorted, voice deadly calm.
“Too bad. Maybe next time turn up a bit earlier instead of getting your dick hard from all the ego boosting your groupies do.” Kyle sneered. “Now if you don’t mind me and my girl Ellie here were talking before you interrupted so fuck off.”
My heart stopped and I ducked my head to avoid seeing the look on Noah’s face.
“You’re going to regret this.” Noah’s threat was quiet but filled with venom.
The threat wasn’t for Kyle though. It was for me.
I thought he was going to kill Kyle on the spot but instead he walked away, taking a seat somewhere behind us. I let out a shaky breath, my heart hammering away in my check as if it was about to leap out of me at any second.
“Fucking creep.” Kyle muttered under his breath but I caught it.
“That was so stupid of you. I hissed. “You shouldn’t mess with him.”
Kyle scoffed at this. “He’s a pussy, El. He’s not the first jackass to try shit like that with me.”
I breathed another shaky sigh, turning to face the front of the class to try and settle my nerves when someone kicked the leg of my chair. Turning to look behind me, I froze when I came face to face with Noah who looked mad.
Really fucking mad.
The morning followed a similar pattern to this. Kyle would walk with me to class and sit next to me. Noah would enter and glare at us but didn’t make another attempt at confronting Kyle. Instead he sat behind us, or more precisely, me. I felt his eyes burning into me every time. My skin crawled and ! struggled to concentrate but I could do nothing except take the reprieve that came with Kyle being my unintentional bodyguard.
