Chapter 68
Chapter 68
Dominic’s POV
The second I heard Nico’s voice on the other end of the line, I knew.
I didn’t need rocket science or mathematics to solve the way his voice had sounded so fucking urgent.
I knew this wasn’t something minor. I knew it wasn’t a normal thing. We came to the house together now he was calling meaning one thing. The office.
I knew this was something that would require my attention–immediately.
And I fucking hated that.
Because the last thing I wanted to do was leave her. Just like that especially when she is like this because of my fucking egoistic issues.
I was pissed at myself and I was pissed at Nico for calling me and I am pissed at whoever made Nico call me.
My grip tightened on the phone. “This better be important.”
Nico let out a short, humorless laugh. “It is. You need to get to the office. Now.”
I glanced at Aria.
She was watching me, her brows slightly furrowed, her fingers curled loosely around the sheets.
She knew something was wrong.
She just wasn’t asking.
Yet.
I turned away, my jaw tightening. “What happened?”
A pause.
Then-
“Mikael.”
The rage that surged through me was instant.
I inhaled slowly, rolling my shoulders, trying to suppress the immediate urge to destroy something.
“What did he do?” My voice was low, controlled.
Another pause.
“He hit two of our shipments last night,” Nico finally said. “One at the port. The other at the warehouse on Fifth.”
My nostrils flared.
That bastard.
He was testing me.
Seeing how far he could push before I retaliated.
I clenched my teeth. “Losses?”
“The Fifth Street warehouse was cleaned out. Everything. Gone. The port? Five of our men were killed. Brutalized. Their intestines were hanging out.”
A muscle in my jaw ticked.
“Survivors?”
Nico exhaled sharply. “Two. But they’re in bad shape.”
I closed my eyes briefly, forcing myself to stay calm.
This wasn’t a direct war yet.
But it was close.
And Mikael knew exactly what he was doing.
First, Aria.
Now my fucking business.
He was going after everything.
I wish I could kill him but he had so many connections and I don’t want trouble just yet. Once I get my hands into pokictic, Mikael is fucking dead..

I exhaled sharply, running a nand through my hair. “I’ll be there in twenty minutes.”
“Make it ten.”
The line went dead.
I lowered the phone, flexing my fingers, forcing my breathing to steady.
But inside?
I was already thinking about how I was going to kill Mikael Petrov.
Piece by piece.
I turned back to Aria.
She was still watching me, her amber eyes sharp, calculating.
“Business?” she asked lightly.
I didn’t respond immediately.
I wanted to stay.
To make sure she was okay.
But I couldn’t.
Not now.
Not when Mikael was trying to dismantle everything I had built.
I exhaled through my nose. “I have to go.”
She lifted a brow. “And I suppose I just stay here like a good little prisoner?”
I should have snapped at her for the sarcasm.
But I didn’t have time for that.
Instead, I crossed the room, gripping her chin between my fingers.
“You’re going to rest,” I murmured. “And when I come back, I expect to find you exactly where I left you.”
She huffed, but there was something else in her eyes. Something almost… worried.
I let my thumb brush over her lower lip.
Then, before she could say anything else, I turned and strode toward the door.
But just as I reached it-
“Dominic.”
I paused.
Didn’t turn.
Just waited.
A beat of silence.
Then-
“…Be careful.”
A flicker of something unfamiliar tightened in my chest.
But I ignored it.
I simply nodded once.
Then, without another word-
I walked out.
And straight into a fucking war zone.
******
I drove like a fucking madman.
The tires screeched against the pavement as I swerved onto the main road, my grip on the steering wheel tight enough to break it.
I was pissed.
More than pissed.
Mikael was pushing me.

Chapter 68
He was trying to provoke a reaction- trying to force me into making a mistake
And maybe, just maybe, I was about to give him exactly what he fucking wanted
The city blurred past me in streaks of red and gold, the lights from the high rises barely registering in my pensiery The
weight of my gun sat against my hip, a silent reminder that if this meeting didn’t go as planned-
I was going to start a war.
The moment I pulled up to the building, two of my men were already at the entrance.
One of them, Matteo, rushed to open the door.
“Boss,” he said quickly, his stance rigid. “They’re all inside.”
I stepped out, barely acknowledging him as I stormed through the lobby.
The entire building was on high alert.
Guards lined the hallways, their hands resting on their weapons.
It was the kind of tension I wanted whenever I come to my place of business. No nonsense. No rubbish.
I shoved open the conference room door.
Inside, Nico was waiting.
So was Julian.
And my top men–Matthias, Aldo, and Lorenzo–all seated around the large oak table, their expressions grim. The air in the room shifted the second I entered.
Everyone felt it.
That sharp drop in temperature.
That silent understanding that shit was about to hit the fucking fan.
Nico was leaning back in his chair, one arm draped over the backrest, his expression unreadable. But his eyes? They gleamed.
He lived for this kind of chaos.
Julian, on the other hand, looked tense.
I ignored both of them, stalking toward the head of the table.
“Talk,” I snapped, my voice cold, unforgiving.
Matthias was the first to speak. “The Fifth Street warehouse was wiped clean. Not just the shipments–but our systems, too. The security footage, our ledgers. It’s like they knew exactly what to target.”
My fingers twitched against the table.
They were getting bolder.
They weren’t just sending a message–they were trying to cripple my operations.
Lorenzo leaned forward. “The port was worse. We lost five men.”
A muscle in my jaw ticked.
I had heard it over the phone, but hearing it again–knowing those were my men, my soldiers–it made my blood fucking boil.
“And the survivors?” I forced out.
Nico exhaled. “One is in critical condition. The other… we haven’t been able to get much out of him yet.”
“Bullshit,” I said, my voice dark. “You haven’t tried hard enough.”
He smirked. “You want to interrogate a dying man, boss?”
I shot him a glare.
Nico only held it, something mocking in his expression.
I wasn’t in the mood for his games.
My fists clenched at my sides. “Mikael is getting desperate.”
Julian let out a breath. “Desperate men are the most dangerous.” I already knew that.
And that’s exactly why I needed to put an end to this now.
I turned to Aldo. “Double security at the warehouses. Any shipment coming in or out I want eyes on it at all times.”

Then I tumed in Matthing
And my votes dropped
Find out where Mast is at the moment and set up a meeting”
Silence
Then, Matthias spoke carefully “Boss you sure you want to take it that for?
Haughed
Gold Low
Find him‘ I said again. And when you do?”
Hleaned forward
I want to be the first fucking person to know”
Matthias nodded stiffly, already reaching for his phone.
The tension in the room was suffocating, thick with unspoken words. Everyone knew what this meant. 1st was no longer just teating me he was making his move
And I wasn’t about to let that slide
Hot after what he did to Ana
Hot after the men he took from me.
Hot after everything
Lexhaled through my nose, pushing back from the table. “If Miksed wants war, we give him one?
Julian ran a hand down his face, letting out a heavy breath, “Shit”
Hico, on the other hand, looked pleased.
He smirked, tilting his head back against the chair. “It was about time, don’t you think?” Lignored him, already heading for the door
I needed to think.
I needed to cool the fuck down before I did something reckless.
Before I drove straight to wherever Mikael was hiding and put a bullet between his eyes myself.
But just as I reached the hallway-
My phone vibrated
I frowned, pulling it out of my pocket.
Unknown number.
I almost ignored it.
Almost
But something in my gut told me to answer
I pressed the phone to my ear. “Who is this?”
Silence
Then-
A chuckle
Low. Amused. Familiar
Mikael
My grip on the phone tightened.
“Dominic, he said smoothly, dragging out my name. “How’s business?”
I didn’t answer
He hummed. “Ah, right. Hot so good, from what i hear.”
My jaw clenched. “If you’re calling to gloat, Petrov, I’d hand un not

He laughed.
A fucking laugh.
Like this was some joke to him.
“I just thought I’d give you a warning,” he said, his voice still dripping with amusement. “Better watch your veil.”
My blood turned to ice.
My heart stopped.
I didn’t move.
Didn’t breathe.
For a second, everything went silent.
And then-
The call ended.
I lowered the phone, my grip so tight I almost crushed it in my hand.
He wasn’t talking about my business.
He wasn’t talking about my men.
He was talking about Aria.
Without another word, I turned and walked out of the office.
