Chapter 27
Chapter 27
Nico’s POV
“What was that about
Dominic asked
His eyes were filled with anger, but his hands stayed casually in his pockets, his gaze sharp, calculating
Like a snake. That was what he was,
He never showed his true emotions. His face was always unreadable, a perfect mask of control. He carried himself with that same cold indifference that made him impossible to predict
Handsome and dangerous.
Even back in high school, all the girls had been all over him. And then later, when he took over the mafia at a young age, it only made him worse.
Because power had a way of feeding his already massive ego.
I smirked, leaning against the bar cart in the corner of the bathroom. “What was what about?”
Dominic’s jaw licked, but his tone stayed smooth. “You know what I mean, Nico
I shrugged “was just talking to her.”
His eyes darkened, something lethal flashing through them. “You were undermining me
I let out a low chuckle. “Am I not allowed to have a conversation now? What, do you own her thoughts too?”
Dominic took a slow step closer, his presence suffocating. “She is mine.”
I tilted my head, pretending to consider his words. “That’s funny” I said, my voice light, teasing “Because she doesn’t seem to think so. She is a breathing and living human. Not a toy.”
His hands were still in his pockets, but I could tell he wanted to hit me.
I could see it in the way his muscles tensed, in the flicker of restraint in his expression.
I smirked. “What’s wrong, amico? Afraid someone might steal your little pet?”
Dominic exhaled through his nose, a slow, controlled breath. “You know the rules.”
“Rules?” I laughed. “Since when do we have rules?”
His eyes narrowed, and I saw it then–real anger, barely contained
“She is not to be touched, Nico” he said, his voice low, dangerous. “Not looked at. Not spoken to in that way”
I raised an eyebrow. “In what way?”
Dominic took another step forward, his fingers twitching at his sides now. “You think I don’t see what you’re doing?”
I smirked, but I didn’t answer.
Because he knew.
And I wanted him to know.
He scoffed, shaking his head. “You always do this,”
“Do what?” I asked innocently.
Dominic’s lips curled in something that wasn’t quite a smile. “Push boundaries. Test limits. Take what doesn’t belong to you. Just to prove to yourself that you may be better than me. Including my woman.”
I grinned. “Oh don’t act like you don’t love it. It feed your ego when you win Everytime.”
His expression hardened. “Not this time.”
I rolled my eyes, reaching for the bottle of whiskey on the cart and pouring myself a drink. “Relax, Dom She’s just a girl.”
His voice turned ice cold. “She is not just a girl.”
I took a slow sip, letting the silence stretch.
Then I smirked. “That’s what I thought.”
Dominic’s jaw locked. “You don’t touch my things”
I chuckled. “And that is your problem, Dominic.” I placed my glass down, meeting his gaze head on. “You think you own everything. That you can control everything.”
He didn’t react immediately, but I saw the flicker in his expression–the shift of something buried deep inside him.
And then, finally, he smirked.
1/4
Cher
The kind of mi that made lesser man LORI
“Everything I want, Fown” he said smoothly
I leaned back crossing my arms. “You can control heat.
Ha smile faded 1 already do
Ichuckled, shaking my head “You think you do
Dominic exfled sharply titing his head. “You don’t know when to stop, do you?
1 grinned. “Oh I know when to stop But where’s the fun in that?”
Dominic moved so fast I barely had time to react
in an instant, he grabbed the collar of my shirt, slamming me back against the bar cart Glass rattled, the whiskey bottle
In
nearly tipping over
For the first time that night, I saw something in his eyes I hadn’t seen in a long time
Rage
Real, unfiltered, primal rage
He leaned in, his voice dangerously low. “If you even think about touching her, I’ll break every single bone in your body”
I didn’t flinch
Didn’t blink
Because that was the thing about Dominic–he didn’t make empty threats.
I let out a slow breath, my smirk never fading “You really like her, don’t you?“.
Dominic’s grip tightened.
“I mean, I get it,” I continued, voice teasing. “She’s fiery, she’s beautiful, she doesn’t listen to you”
He shoved me harder against the bar.
I grinned. “And that kills you, doesn’t it?”
Dominic didn’t respond immediately.
He just stared.
Then, finally, he exhaled, releasing me with a sharp shove before stepping back.
He ran a hand through his hair, rolling his shoulders, forcing himself to relax
But I could fell–he wasn’t relaxed.
Not even close.
I straightened my shirt, watching him carefully. This is our argument after a while” I mused. “Remember the last time we did this?”
Dominic’s jaw ticked. “Yes.”
I smirked, swirling my whiskey in my glass.
“Victoria”
Silence stretched between us, thick and weighted with old history.
Dominic’s eyes darkened, and for the first time tonight, I saw something real in his expression–something raw
That name. That one name
It wasn’t just a memory. It was a scar
He exhaled, running a hand through his h hair “That was a long time ago.”
I chuckled. “Not long enough.”
His gaze snapped back to mine, sharp, warning. But I didn’t stop.
I wanted him to remember.
Because I did.
Years Ago – University
Victoria Romano
She wasn’t just any girl
She was the girl
The kind men fought over the kind who walked into a room and had everyone turning their heads. Dark hair, sultry eyes, the
kind of beauty that was both elegant and deadly.
And we both wanted her
Dominic and I had been best friends, but we were also competitors. Always pushing, always testing, always trying to outdo
the other
Until Victona
I saw her first. I wanted her first.
But Dominic?
Dominic took her first.
And he didn’t just take her, he made her his
I had played my cards right, or so I thought. We flirted, we laughed, we danced around the attraction. And then, out of nowhere, Dominic swooped in
She became his.
And just like that, I lost.
But Dominic didn’t love her.
Not the way I would have.
To him, she was another conquest, another trophy, another piece in his endless game of power and control.
And Victoria?
She was just as ruthless.
She wanted power. She wanted status. And she saw Dominic as her ticket to both.
So she played the perfect role.
Until she didn’t
Until she betrayed him
Until she sold his secrets to his enemies and nearly got him killed
I remembered the night he found out
The way he stood there, jaw tight, eyes empty as Victoria whispered excuse after excuse.
She had played him.
Just like he had played me.
And it burned him.
I should have been satisfied, should have enjoyed the moment, but even then, even after everything, I warned him.
“You can’t trust her, Dom. Anytime you play this game, you get hurt.”
But he didn’t listen.
Because Dominic never does.
And now?
Here we were again.
Present
I took a slow sip of my whiskey, watching as Dominic’s fingers flexed at his sides, his body tense with the weight of
memory
“This is the same thing, you know,” I said casually,
His eyes snapped to mine, dark and dangerous. It’s not the same.”
I smirked. “Isn’t it?”
His jaw tightened, but I could see the flicker of doubt, the hesitation
I leaned forward slightly, my voice quieter now. “Victoria fooled you because you let her. Because you thought you could. own her, control her. But in the end, she chose herself.”
He said nothing
I tilted my head. “And Aria?” I let the words hang between us, the implication clear. “She’s not yours either. She’s just waiting for her chance.”
Dominic let out a low, humorless chuckle
Chapter 27
Then, finally, he looked at me, smirking
“You really think you know everything, don’t you, Nico?”
I grinned. “I know you
His smirk didn’t fade, but there was something colder behind it now.
“You don’t know her,” he said simply
I chuckled again, leaning back against the bar
“Maybe not,” I admitted. “But I do know one thing.”
Dominic exhaled, like he was already tired of my shit. “What’s that?”
I grinned, finishing the last of my whiskey
“Women are just as dangerous as men, they are just more stealthy”
