Chapter 7
Ethan’s schedule was precise down to the minute.
Right after picking out wedding rings, he whisked me straight to the bridal boutique.
I collapsed onto the velvet sofa, groaning: “Your Majesty, it’s already dark out. Can’t we do this tomorrow?”
He unbuttoned his suit jacket with one hand, raising an eyebrow: “Nope. I’m worried you’ll change your mind.”
I laughed helplessly: “Do I really seem that unreliable? We’re already legally mated–isn’t that enough security for you?”
He nodded seriously: “Mm–hmm.”
I grabbed a throw pillow and hurled it at him. He caught it smoothly and pulled me to my feet.
‘No escaping. Go try it on.”
When the shop assistant slowly drew back the curtain, the dressing room fell silent.
I stepped out in a vintage European wedding gown to find Ethan frozen in place, his Adam’s apple bobbing violently.
His voice was hoarse as he approached and gently embraced me.
‘Two years ago at the Sotheby’s auction, when I bought this dress, I kept imagining how gorgeous you’d look in it.”
The shop assistants covered their mouths, giggling, as I buried my burning face against his chest.
Suddenly the glass door burst open.
“Let go of her!”
Callahan stormed in, fury written across his face, reaching for me.
I recoiled in disgust.

Callahan’s hand grasped empty air, pain flashing in his eyes:
“Olivia, enough! The video leak, blocking me, this fake marriage stunt… I can overlook all of it!”
He pointed at Ethan, his voice breaking:
“I defended you in front of everyone, refused to mate with Willa despite all the pressure, and you’re
here trying on wedding dresses? Have you thought about my feelings at all?”
I stared at him coldly:
“Callahan, I’ll say this one more time–I’m not throwing a tantrum! Ethan and I are legally mated, on
the very day you were supposed to mate with me! The moment you abandoned me without hesitation to run to Willa, we were over.”
He shook his head, staggering back:
“Just because I left you that day, you immediately married another man?”
suddenly laughed:
“You moved pregnant Willa into our home and expected me to raise that child. Put yourself in my
shoes–if I were carrying another man’s baby and asked you to be the father, would you agree?”
His face went ashen as he scrambled to explain:
“Olivia, that’s different! Don’t twist this around! What happened with Willa was an accident, and the
pup is innocent. No matter what, I’ve always loved you! Can’t you take a step back for the sake of all
our years together?”
My answer was resolute:
“I won’t give an inch. You always said I had a spoiled princess attitude, right? Well, now you’re getting exactly what you wanted. Please leave and don’t show your face around me again.”
My words seemed to cut deep.
He used to hate when I mentioned my “princess attitude,” and now I was embracing it.
Callahan’s eyes suddenly reddened.
Just as I turned to leave, he dropped to his knees and grabbed my dress hem:

“Olivia, I was wrong! I swear I’ll cut all ties with Willa–I don’t want that pup either!”
He pleaded desperately:
“Sever the bond with him right now and let’s get our mating ceremony done! Immediately! Right
now!”
