hapter 93 Evidence
Lucky Draw
Just as another wave of tears spilled down Ginny’s cheeks, Ryan approached with his briefcase in hand.
When he saw Ginny crying, he instinctively stepped forward, anger flashing across his face as he shot a cold glare at everyone in the room.
“Ginny, don’t be afraid.”
Chandler had been about to walk over and say something- maybe try to calm Ginny down and talk again when emotions weren’t so raw–but he hadn’t expected Ryan to appear out of nowhere.
Not only did he walk directly between them, he positioned himself like a shield in front of Ginny, a wall between her and
Chandler.
That made Chandler uneasy.
“Mr. Winchester, this is a family matter,” he said, trying to keep his voice level. “Please stay out of it.”
“A family matter?” Ryan gave a short, sharp laugh. “This is what you call a family matter? A three–on–one interrogation? Let me ask you this—your relationship with Ginny, your parents—that’s family. But Mrs. Wheeler? When exactly did she become one of your family members?”

Chandler had no response..

And before he could recover, Ryan pulled out a file from his briefcase and tossed it directly onto Chandler.
“Your brain must be completely occupied by Melody, or else you wouldn’t be this blind. With all these obvious inconsistencies, you really didn’t see anything wrong?
“I tolerated how you treated Ginny before. But now? You’re pushing her to give up her uterus to a woman who’s done nothing but lie? For that alone, you’re not worthy of being her husband.
“Chandler, once this mess is cleared up, if you still won’t go through with the divorce, I’ll help her file the suit myself.”
Chandler instinctively looked to Ginny.
But she was already hiding behind Ryan, as if she couldn’t bear to look at him anymore.
All the waiting, all the hopes, all the unwillingness to let go— vanished the moment Chandler demanded she hand over her
uterus for Melody.
Ryan was right.
Someone who truly loves you could never stand to see you cry.

But someone who doesn’t—no matter how much you give, it’s never enough,
Too bad she was just an ordinary woman.
She got tired. She broke down. She felt disappointment and despair.
And now, she was done. Really, completely done.
“That’s impossible.”
Chandler stared at the report in his hands, then wordlessly passed it to Mrs. Wheeler.
She had already started to feel uneasy the moment Ryan pulled out those documents, but she had been clinging to hope. Until she saw the real report for herself.
She was stunned.
How could this be? She had paid off the attending physician, made sure he altered the digital records.
How did Ryan still get his hands on the truth?
“The real medical records are protected. Tampering with them is illegal,” Ryan said calmly. “Melody’s doctor wanted money, sure. But he didn’t want to break the law. So he fooled all of you. As it happens, I spoke to his direct supervisor. That’s how I got

the real records.”

Mrs. Wheeler had assumed Ginny was on her own–an orphan, with no family to back her up That she wouldn’t have the power to pull strings or uncover the truth.
All she had to do was keep the attending physician quiet. But she’d underestimated one thing–Ryan. She’d completely forgotten about him.
Last night, he had already stepped in for Ginny, challenging Melody more than once.
“These are fake,” she said sharply. “You made them up to help Ginny, to frame Melody.”
She turned to Chandler.
“Chandler, you promised me, no matter what happens, you’d believe in our Melody. You said it just last night. You’re not going back on your word, are you?”
Chandler didn’t answer right away.
He turned instead toward Ginny. He tried to step closer, maybe to say something, to explain.
But the moment he took a step forward, Ginny instinctively tugged Ryan two steps back.

And every step he took, she retreated.

He was trying to get closer to her, so why did she feel farther and farther away?
“If you think my report is fake, and I think yours is fake, then there’s only one solution,” Ryan said. “Call the police. Let them pull the hospital records from the system. That way, we’ll see who’s telling the truth, and who’s been lying.”
Mrs. Wheeler paled. She was someone who valued appearances. She could lie for Melody’s sake–but taking this mess public? That was another matter entirely.
So the moment Ryan suggested calling the police, her instinct was to shut it down.
“Let’s not air dirty laundry,” she said quickly. “Ginny’s name has already been on the trending lists more than once. The media only just quieted down. If this breaks out again, even if she’s innocent, her reputation will suffer. I’ve heard her professor doesn’t like students with messy personal lives.”
She was trying to use that to pressure Ginny–to make her back down for the sake of her future.
But Ginny wasn’t afraid anymore.
“Professor Edwards doesn’t like trouble, sure,” she said evenly. “But he also doesn’t like students who get bullied and only know

how to cry and hide. I believe, once he hears the truth, he’ll understand.”
Mrs. Wheeler’s face darkened. She pointed a finger at Ginny, clearly about to say more, but her eyes shifted and caught a glimpse of Chandler.
So she changed course.
“Chandler, they’re going to ruin Melody,” she said urgently. “She’s already in such a state, and still, she hasn’t said a word about going after thein. And yet they’re still smearing her name like this–how can they be so cruel?”
