Chapter 69 Moved Out

Professor Edward had always been the rational type. This was the one impulsive decision he’d ever made and it ended up being exploited, leading to Ginny being wrongfully accused.
But he was also someone who owned up to his mistakes. The moment he realized he’d been wrong, he acted immediately.
Ginny, however, was a little stunned at how smoothly everything resolved. She’d assumed that even if Professor Edward believed her, he wouldn’t express it right away. He would probably verify her story in private before making any conclusions.
So the sudden understanding and trust caught her off guard. It made her happy, but also left her feeling unexpectedly wronged.
“Ginny, would you still be willing to join my lab?”
Just as she was still processing her emotions, Professor Edward
extended the invitation.
She’d just passed the interview at Riston Hospital–a position her professor had helped her secure. She couldn’t turn around and go back on it now.
But joining Professor Edward’s lab… that had always been her dream.
Two pieces of good news had arrived within the span of two

days. She didn’t know how to choose.

She didn’t give him a clear answer–just said she’d think about it.
Back at the hotel, she cleaned the bathroom. It helped her relax and gave her space to think.
Still, two hours later, crouched in the corner with a sponge in hand, she hadn’t made up her mind.
It felt like choosing between her right hand and her left.
Around noon, just as she was about to order takeout, Dean Ressler called.
“I heard you cleared up the misunderstanding with Professor Edward,” he said. “And now he wants you back in his lab?”
She hadn’t expected word to travel that fast. It had only happened that morning.
Uncertain of his tone, she grew anxious. What if Dean Ressler misunderstood her? What if this impacted Professor Hardy?
She rushed to explain. “I didn’t know Professor Edward had come back to America until after I left our hospital yesterday,” she said quickly. “Going to explain things to him—it was a last–minute decision. Dean Ressler, I swear I’m hiding anything on purpose. I’m not trying to play both sides—”

“Ginny, slow down,” Dean Ressler cut her off gently, laughing a little. “I’m not accusing you of anything.
“I’m friends with Professor Edward. I’ve already heard the whole story. He came to me himself, saw you were in a tough
spol.
“As for us–yes, it’s a bit sudden. You just passed the interview, and now you’re leaving to study. But from a long–term
perspective? If you graduate from Professor Edward’s lab, you’ll be in a whole different league.
“People will be fighting to hire you. If I can secure you now, others will envy me.”
She understood what he meant. And truthfully, she was grateful.
But then she thought back to last time. Back then, the hospital she’d been working at had said the same kind of things. But once the rumors started, they’d been the first to let her go.
Of course, everyone had their own priorities, things they had to weigh. No one was necessarily wrong.
Still, the memory lingered. Her hesitation now was about more than just the job–it was about not wanting to let anyone down again. She didn’t want to make a promise she might not be able to keep.

Dean Ressler seemed to read her thoughts. “Then let’s not sign a contract just yet,” he said. “If you graduate from Professor Edward’s lab, Riston Hospital will always welcome you. And even if you don’t, if you can handle your setbacks as well as you did this time, we’ll still be glad to have you.”
He paused, then added gently, “You’re still young. Some turbulence along the way is normal.”
His words lifted her mood more than she expected.
Soon after hanging up, Ginny messaged Professor Edward.
She’d made her decision–she would join his lab.
But she didn’t go right away. She gave herself a day to look for a new place.
She wanted to settle in before starting.
Over the past few days, she’d already seen a handful of apartments but hadn’t found anything that felt right.
Now that her destination was set, she decided to look for something near the lab.
It was located close to a top–tier hospital, where rent ran higher than in other neighborhoods. But the buildings were newer, and the interiors better maintained.

After visiting a few more units, she finally settled on one.
At noon, she returned to the hotel and began packing. She didn’t have much–two or three cab rides would cover it all.
By a little past three, she had moved everything into the new place. She was about to sit down for a break before unpacking when her phone rang.
It was Chandler.
Without thinking, she declined the call. Then went to tidy the living room.
By the time she finished there and moved on to the bedroom, it was already five.
When she picked up her phone again, she saw he’d been calling for the past two hours. He’d sent several texts too, demanding to know why she’d moved without telling him.
She stared at the screen.
“I didn’t tell you when I quit,” she said, “didn’t tell you when I moved into the hotel either. And yet you still knew, didn’t you?”
