“Go home and wait for updates. No matter who’s behind this, I’ll find them,” Ryan said as he pulled up in front of her home. “You’ll get the justice you deserve.”
He was planning to walk her upstairs, but Ginny shook her head. “The security in this neighborhood is among the best in the city. Go handle your work, really. I can make it up myself.”
The shadows under his eyes were obvious. He hadn’t slept. And now, because of her, his work had been delayed again.
She didn’t want him losing another night over this. Besides, she really wasn’t afraid–this place was secure.
Just as he was about to say something else, his phone rang. He listened for a moment, then said, “Alright. I won’t go up. Call me if anything happens. And for the next few days, stay in if you
can.”
After he left, Ginny took out her keys and headed toward her
home.
But before she could reach the door, a sharp voice rang out
behind her.
“Didn’t get enough of him at the hospital entrance? Now you’re bringing him home too? Ginny, don’t forget, we’re still married.”

Chandler’s voice was low and tight, his face full of anger as he stormed toward her. “I don’t want to see that man in this neighborhood again. And you’d better not be in contact with him, either.”
“Why not?” she snapped. “Where were you when I was being accused?”
It was Ryan who pulled her out of that mess. He stood by her when no one else did.
And Chandler? Instead of being grateful, he was spewing threats?
“Even if we’re not divorced yet, I’m still free to be friends with whomever I choose. You’ve got someone else in your heart. I haven’t said a word about that. But now you want to control who I talk to?”
She didn’t want to argue with him out in the open. She unlocked the door and walked in.
Chandler followed closely behind. “Don’t make it sound like something it’s not. Melody and I are just friends.”
“Really?” she said, her voice dry, almost mocking. “So that explains why she kidnapped me, and you didn’t even blink. If that’s what friendship looks like to you, then I’m definitely not cut out to be your wife. I value my life, thanks.”

Chandler had rushed back in a panic, wanting to check on her, to show some kind of care. He didn’t even know how things had spiraled this way.
By the time he’d forced down his temper and tried to say something kind, Ginny was already lying down.
Anger and frustration always left a person drained once they faded. Ginny was no exception. She’d only meant to lie down for a bit, but the moment her head hit the pillow, sleep took her.
She slept until 7 p.m.
When she woke, Chandler was gone. The house was quiet again —it was just her, like always.
She’d gotten used to it over the past five years. But tonight, the silence felt different.
It felt heavier. Lonelier.
When Ginny was in a bad mood, she usually watched comedies. So she grabbed a pile of snacks, curled up on the couch with a pillow, and started a movie.
Soon, she was laughing. And not long after, she was laughing so hard, tears started to fall.
The next three days passed the same way. Movies at night. Sleep during the day.

The hours blurred, black and white reversed. But at least she didn’t have time to spiral.
On the third day, just when she’d stopped expecting any news, her phone rang.
It was Ryan.
“Ginny, I found who set you up.”
He sent her a voice message right after. Without even hanging up, she played it.
“Edit this video to make it look like Ginny cheated. Once it’s done, I’ll give you ten thousand.”
The voice… it was Melody.
Ginny had suspected her. But she had no proof, and she couldn’t think of a reason Melody would go this far.
Now, the evidence was right in front of her. She couldn’t pretend
anymore.
“What do you want to do?” Ryan asked gently.
He could’ve posted the audio online himself. But he wanted her to decide. At the same time, he worried doing so might anger Chandler and end up making things even harder for Ginny.

“Let me think.”
Her thoughts were scattered. After hanging up, she curled into the couch, eyes staring blankly at a single spot.
Time passed, but she didn’t move.
She didn’t even hear the door.
Chandler stepped inside. The place was dead quiet, so he assumed she wasn’t home. He walked to the window and opened the curtain.
The sudden light snapped Ginny back.
She instinctively shielded her eyes, then croaked, “Can you close the curtain? Thanks.”
“You’re home?”
Chandler stared. She looked worn out–her hair messy, her face pale. “Don’t tell me… you haven’t left the house these past few days?”
She didn’t answer.
When he didn’t move to close the curtain, she got up, did it herself, and returned to the couch.

“You’re not seriously thinking that lying low like this will make everything go away, right? That you’ll just walk back into the hospital like nothing happened?”
His words were meant to shake her back to life.
But Ginny just gave him an empty and cold look.
“So… you do know I’ve been attacked online. You do know I’ve been suspended.”
