Chapter 21 The Divorce Agreement
Chandler had just returned from an errand when he saw the photo. His face darkened, and he immediately called security at the house.
The guards were frantically looking for Ginny, doing everything they could to keep her disappearance from him. They figured if they found her before he noticed, it wouldn’t be a problem. But they hadn’t expected him to see that picture first.
“Useless. You’re all fired,” Chandler snapped, then hung up.
After getting the restaurant’s address from Melody, he drove straight out of the Special Ops Division.
“Ginny.”
By the time Chandler arrived, Ginny and Ryan had just said goodbye to Professor Edward. Ryan was suggesting that he take Ginny home.
The moment Chandler appeared, both their smiles vanished.
He could feel it–Ginny’s disgust toward him. That spark of jealousy flared in his chest, followed by a twinge of inexplicable panic.
He strode over and yanked her into his arms, dragging her toward his car.

“Chandler, what the hell are you doing?!”
She didn’t have the strength to resist and was forced into the car.
Ryan reached out, trying to pull her back–but Chandler was
faster, slamming the door shut and hitting the gas.
Ryan jumped into his own car, ready to follow.
Then his phone buzzed. It was a message from Ginny.
Ginny: [Don’t. I don’t want to get you involved.]
He read it, sighed, and reluctantly turned onto the road to his office.
Only when Ginny saw Ryan veer off did she close her eyes.
The rest of the ride was filled with suffocating silence.
Once they got home, Chandler slammed the door and confronted her.
“Didn’t I tell you? You’re not to leave the house without my permission!”
Ginny said nothing. She went into the bedroom and came back with a folder, handing it to him.

“What’s this?”
He took it with suspicion. When his eyes landed on the words Divorce Agreement, his expression turned thunderous.
“I already told you, I won’t agree to a divorce.”
“And I already told you, I will.” Her voice was calm and steady. “Sign it, Chandler. It’ll be better for both of us.”
She didn’t ask how he found her at the restaurant. She’d seen Melody earlier and didn’t need to guess. Of course, it was Melody who had tipped him off.
It was always like this. He would trust anyone–except her. She was tired of it.
If they were going to get divorced anyway, why drag it out?
So be it. The heart breaks quietly, and then it’s gone.
She turned, ready to leave, but he caught her by the wrist.
“Ginny, I… didn’t come back to question you. I came to tell you there’s a banquet tonight. You’re still my wife. You’re coming with me.”
She turned back to him. Chandler quickly added, “You said you’d fulfill your duties as my wife. You hate people who go on their word, don’t you?”

Ginny let out a soft laugh, not out of amusement but disbelief.
“Fine. I’ll go.”
She yanked her wrist out of his hand and walked off.
That afternoon, the styling team he’d scheduled arrived at the house with her gown.
“This is an A&J couture piece–one of a kind in the world! Mr. Pierce really spoils you,” one of the stylists gushed.
Ginny gave a tight smile. She had no words for any of it.
At 7:30, the driver came to pick her up.
She glanced into the car and noticed Chandler wasn’t inside.
“Where is he?” she asked.
The driver stumbled over his words. Ginny didn’t bother pressing.
When she arrived at the venue, she planned to stay a few minutes, then find a quiet corner to disappear. But the moment she walked in, she spotted Ryan and Professor Edward.
“Ginny, you’re here too!” Professor Edward greeted her warmly.

Her mood lifted.
While the three of them chatted, Professor Edward brought up the subject again.
“Have you thought about becoming my doctoral student?”
This time, Ginny didn’t hesitate.
“Yes,” she said. “I’d love to.”
When someone came over to talk to Professor Edward, Ryan pulled her aside.
“What changed your mind?” he asked. “Did Chandler do something again?”
Ginny had always been stubborn, proud. If it were about work, she would’ve charged through any obstacle. But relationships… that was different.
“He didn’t,” she replied quietly.
Then a sudden stir erupted at the entrance. Everyone turned to look.
“Ms. Wheeler’s dress is gorgeous.”
“Ms. Wheeler and Mr. Pierce are perfect together. Literally a match made in heaven.”

Chandler always attracted attention wherever he went. Ginny had known that from the very beginning.
But now, standing beside him was Melody.
And Ginny–his wife–was nothing more than an onlooker, a stranger in the crowd, listening as people praised the other
Woman.
‘…your dress,” Ryan said, a note of unease in his voice.
Ginny hadn’t noticed at first, her gaze fixed on Melody’s hand wrapped around Chandler’s arm.
But now, following Ryan’s line of sight, she finally looked.
The dress. Melody was wearing the exact same gown.
Wasn’t this supposed to be the world’s only one–of–a–kind couture? So which of them was wearing the original–and who had the fake?
“Who let someone like that in here?” someone nearby whispered.
“Can’t even afford a proper gown. Shows up in the same dress as Ms. Wheeler. How embarrassing.”
Though the voices were low, they were close enough.
