Chapter 12 Fainted

Ginny didn’t want anything to happen to the boy, either. So she nodded to the nurse to keep going.

“I’m fine, really,” she said quietly.

At the edge of the crowd, Melody stood

watching, satisfaction dancing in her eyes.

Moments later, a nurse’s urgent voice echoed through the hallway, calling Ginny’s name.

At the same time, Martin rushed in with the blood bags.

“I’m sorry, Mr. Winchester. I didn’t expect something like that to happen on such a

short route,” he said, out of breath. “But

I swear, the electric scooter hit me. It

wasn’t my fault.”

In a daze, Ginny heard voices. When she opened her eyes, Ryan was sitting beside her hospital bed. A young man stood nearby, holding a motorcycle helmet.

That must be Martin, the one who had

delivered the blood.

Melody stood next to him, wearing a mask of concern. “Ginny, I heard you lost too much blood and passed out for the entire afternoon. How are you feeling now?”

If she could’ve just wiped that little smirk off the corner of her mouth, maybe Ginny would’ve believed she was being sincere.

“I’m B-type blood too,” Melody added sweetly. “Why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve helped.”

Then, in a voice thick with pretense, she added, “You’re so weak now from blood loss. Maybe if I donate a bit to you, you’d recover faster?”

Ginny frowned. There was no way she believed Melody meant any of that.

And sure enough, the next words out of her mouth were, “Chandler’s always been a very responsible man. If he finds out

you

did something so reckless, he’s bound to be heartbroken. I can’t do much to help him, but if giving some blood would ease your pain, I’d be willing.”

“If you really wanted to help, you

should’ve stepped up earlier,” Ryan cut in coldly. He stood up, clearly ready to show

her the door.

But just then, Chandler walked in, face dark, stepping right between them.

Melody turned to him, instantly looking hurt. She grabbed his sleeve, her voice trembling with forced composure.

“Chandler, don’t misunderstand. I

must’ve said something wrong and upset Ginny.”

Ginny had wondered why Melody had suddenly shown up saying all these strange things. But now that Chandler was here, everything made sense.

She’d grown used to disappointment. So

even though her heart felt like it had been wrung dry, her expression didn’t change.

“I need to rest now. Please leave,” she said, pulling the blanket over herself and turning away.

Chandler had rushed over the moment he heard what happened-driving for hours through the night without sleep.

And yet, the first thing Ginny did when she saw him was ask him to leave.

His face tightened in anger.

“Chandler, your dark circles are awful. You didn’t sleep last night, did you?”

Melody reached for his hand in concern, but he quietly pulled away.

Still, she kept her composure, pretending not to notice. “Let me have someone bring up some food for you.”

“Thanks,” Chandler muttered. He was indeed exhausted, and food sounded good.

Ginny was always saying he didn’t care about her—but now, Melody had noticed his fatigue right away, while Ginny hadn’t even looked at him.

That hurt. It made him both frustrated and disappointed.

But then he looked at Ginny’s pale face

and felt all the anger drain away.

“Get more food. Ginny probably hasn’t eaten either.”

Melody had offered to get food, hoping to show off her thoughtfulness. She hadn’t expected him to bring up Ginny. Again.

She inhaled sharply, trying not to let her frustration show.

Just as she was about to come up with an excuse to refuse, Ryan spoke up. “No need. I’ve already brought food and supplies.”

With that, he opened the small table over Ginny’s bed and laid out the meal.

“Eat. These are your favorites, and they’ll help rebuild your blood. You need to eat

more.’

Ginny tried to sit up, but the moment she lifted her head, a wave of dizziness hit her. She slumped back down.

Before she could fall, both men reached out to catch her.

Their eyes met-and in that moment, mutual irritation flared between them.

“No need for your help. She’s my wife. I’ll take care of her,” Chandler said, trying to move Ryan aside.

But Ryan didn’t budge. Instead, he pulled Ginny closer to him. “The one you should

be looking after is over there,” he said coolly.

It was the first time Melody had seen Chandler show this much possessiveness toward Ginny. And even that little bit was enough to light a fire inside her.

So when Ryan motioned for Chandler to look her way, Melody deliberately swayed a little, feigning weakness.

Sure enough, Chandler immediately rushed to her side. “Are you feeling sick again? Come on, I’ll take you back to your

room.”

At the same time, Ginny sat quietly with her head lowered, shoveling food into her mouth as if she hadn’t noticed a thing.

But only she knew-when Chandler turned and supported Melody out of the room-she heard something inside her break.

She thought him coming here in a rush meant he cared about her. But now she realized… she’d been wrong.

His heart, his attention-none of it had ever belonged to her. Only to Melody.

Wake up, Ginny. You two were always meant to end. The sooner you accept it, the sooner you can begin again.

“Chandler, where are you going?”

Back in her room, Melody had just closed her eyes when Chandler suddenly stood up. She didn’t want to seem possessive in front of him, but the idea of him going to see Ginny made her unbearably jealous.

Even if it meant upsetting him, she had to stop him.

“I’m sorry,” she said softly. “I know I shouldn’t cling to you right now… but I’m really scared. Can you stay until I fall asleep? Then you can go see Ginny.”
