Vincent scanned Alexa, paused for a few seconds, and spoke in a hushed voice, “I’m…… on the internet.”
“Vincent.”
Doris’s gentle voice came from outside the door.
Vincent gave a start and turned around, his ink brows slightly knitted, “Why are you here?”
Doris wore sunglasses and a mask and swept her eyes around, her voice was very soft, “I came to the hospital to review and met Arthur, he told me that Miss Sophia and Aunt Alexa were both at the hospital.”
She sounded innocent, paused, then added, “I didn’t realize you were there.”
In the hospital room, Alexa sees Doris and rushes to get out of bed.
Sophia hastily stops her, “Mom, you can’t come down while you’re still on fluids.”
“Then what? There’s been such a public outcry that Mrs. Williams has come to the door!”
Alexa held Sophia’s hand, “Sophia, you quickly admit your fault to Mrs. Williams, you promise her that you will never think anything against Vincent again!”
Sophia looked at her mother incredulously.
“Mom, it’s not what you think it is, you……”
“You child!” Alexa looked at her angrily, “Why don’t you listen to advice even at this time!Sophia, Vincent is ultimately a married man no matter how good he is, you can’t be confused!”
Sophia looked at her mother in a daze.
Why?
Why did even the people closest to her look at her this way?
What kind of life had she lived these five years?
Until this moment, Sophia didn’t really wake up.
It turned out that what Vincent had given her in the name of her husband in this marriage was not salvation, but a well–built boomerang.
Divorce is not the end, but the beginning of her wretchedness.
Five years, five years, Sophia never dreamed that the man she was so devoted to would be so cruel to her!
Vincent had never thought of leaving her any room for maneuver in order to save Doris‘ honor!
Such a man is not worth her love!
Sophia lowered her eyes, hiding the disappointment and wretchedness in her eyes.
Since Vincent did not care about her, why should she care about decency?
Sophia slowly pulled out the hand that was held tightly by her mother.
She looked at her mother, holding back her sore nose, and asked, “Mom, I’m your daughter, why don’t you believe me?”
Alexa’s hand was empty.

Chapter 36
She sat down on the hospital bed and looked at her daughter, whose eyes were slightly red, and realized something with a jolt.
“Sophia, it’s not that mom doesn’t believe you, mom is just worried about you……”.
“Mom, you don’t have to worry, I can swear.”
Sophia interrupted her mother’s words, her tone was cold and determined, “I, Sophia, will swear with my life today, I will not have any half delusion towards Vincent, and I will definitely not be a mistress in my life, if I go back on my word, then let me not have a good death!”
Vincent’s eyebrows jumped, staring at Sophia’s back, his eyes dark.
“Sophia!” Alexa stared wide–eyed, heartbroken and anxious, “You’re silly, how can you make such a heavy oath……..
“Mom, I have a clear conscience.” Sophia’s tone was firm.
She was never a mistress, and from now on, she will not be a slave to her feelings!
Alexa opened her mouth, wanting to speak, but her mouth was clumsy, afraid that she would be wrong if she said more.
Looking at her daughter’s calm appearance, she profoundly realized that she had misunderstood!
This was her daughter, the one who would do her best to protect her even if she had to make an enemy of the entire Brown family!
She couldn’t doubt anyone but her daughter…….
Alexa is guilty, overwhelmed, like a child who has made a mistake, reaching out to pull Sophia’s hand, “Sophia, mom was wrong, mom apologizes to you, you’ve been wronged.”
The phrase ‘you’ve been wronged‘ made Sophia almost burst into tears on the spot.
She was indeed aggrieved, but she knew she couldn’t blame her mother.
Her mother herself had little opinion, and being influenced by public opinion when she didn’t know anything about it was why she was concerned, and she understood that.
Soothing her mother, Sophia turned and swept Doris from the door, turning her cold gaze to fall on Vincent’s face.
“Vincent, I agreed to the internet clarification because you helped me back then.” Sophia’s voice was cold, “But if I knew it would come to this, I’d rather be ungrateful.”
Vincent looked at her and saw a determination in her calm face that he had never seen before.
This was a very different Sophia from the lukewarm but considerate of everything that she had been for the past five years.
He felt Sophia was different.
“I’ll take care of the online thing.” Vincent lowered his voice, “Don’t blame Doris, she’s already speaking for you on her personal INS.”
“Speaking for me?” Sophia laughed in exasperation, “If it wasn’t for you guys, would I be online? Would I need her fake kindness to come out and speak for me?”
Vincent pursed his lips, speechless for a while.
Sophia was too lazy to get involved with them anymore.
“Vincent, listen, I tolerate you guys repeatedly for Rowan’s sake, but that doesn’t mean I’m a bully.”
Sophia glanced at Doris outside the door, her voice was small but threatening, “It’s not just public opinion, I can afford to play along. But for real, are you sure you can afford to play?”
“Sophia,” Vincent’s face sank, “Are you threatening me?”
