Chapter 28
On the other end of the line, Vincent paused for a moment before asking, “Why did you move out?”
Sophia figured he asked because he’d already left her the Moonlight Villa. In his mind, there was no need for her to move.
“I don’t intend to keep the Moonlight Villa,” she replied calmly, then added, “I’ve taken what I need. The rest–you can do whatever you want with it.”
“You’ve really decided?” Vincent’s voice remained indifferent. “The agreement can still be revised. If you have any terms, just let me know.”
“No need. Let’s stick to this version.”
Sophia was simply too tired–she didn’t want to keep dragging herself through the emotional wreckage of this marriage.
Even her own mother thought Vincent and Doris were a perfect match. Her presence in this marriage had always been an embarrassment, a pathetic joke.
Besides, with the scandal five years ago, how could someone like her ever be worthy of the Williams heir?
Vincent didn’t respond.
The silence between them stretched for more than half a minute.
Sophia asked, “When are you available to finalize the divorce?”
“You’re in such a rush?”
That surprised Sophia.
Was Vincent not?
He’d already made his relationship with Doris public. Wasn’t he afraid that dragging out the divorce would eventually lead to a media scandal that would tarnish his precious actress fiancée?
Or… did he have something else in mind?
But regardless of his thoughts or plans, Sophia just wanted to end this warped, one–sided marriage as soon as possible.
“The sooner, the better–for both of us,” she said coldly.
On the other end, Vincent let out a quiet “Mm.”
“Then tomorrow morning.”
10:30 AM.
Sophia had been waiting at the district court for two hours.
Vincent still hadn’t shown up.
She called him three times. No answer.
Her patience was wearing dangerously thin.
Just as she was about to dial a fourth time, Vincent’s name popped up on her screen.
She answered instantly, her tone laced with restrained fury.

Chapter 28
“Vincent, are you coming or not?”
“I’m at the hospital,” Vincent’s voice was as calm and cold as ever.
“Rowan’s throwing a tantrum. He says he wants to see you and won’t calm down. Come to the hospital first.”
“It’s already ten thirty. Can’t you come here first so we can get the divorce-”
The line went dead.
He’d hung up on her.
Sophia stared at her phone’s dark screen, so angry she could hardly breathe.
After a moment of deliberation, she made a decision.
Since he refused to come–she would go and bring him!
Outside Rowan’s hospital room, Sophia knocked gently on the door.
Moments later, the door opened from the inside.
Vincent stood there and greeted her with a mild, “You’re here.”
Sophia gave him a brief glance but didn’t reply.
Vincent wasn’t bothered by her attitude. He simply raised a brow slightly and stepped aside to let her in.
Sophia walked into the room.
On the hospital bed, Rowan had buried himself under the covers.
Vincent closed the door and approached her.
“He said he wants your soup,” Vincent explained. “And he’s upset you haven’t visited him in two days.”
Sophia sighed and walked over, tugging gently at the blanket.
“Rowan.”
The moment he heard her voice, Rowan threw the blanket off with excitement.
“Mommy! You finally came to see me! I missed you so much~”
Sophia leaned in and hugged him gently.
“Sorry, sweetheart. Mommy’s been a little busy.”
Rowan let her go and eagerly blurted out his request:
“Mommy, I want your soup–and your steak!”
Sophia’s brows furrowed slightly.
“I’m sorry, Rowan. Mommy hurt her hand. I can’t cook for the next few days.”
At that, Rowan’s face fell in obvious disappointment.
“Aw, that’s too bad… I thought since you were here, I’d get to eat your cooking…”

Chapter 28
A faint pang of sadness rose in Sophia’s chest.
In the past, Rowan’s first reaction would’ve been to worry about her whenever he learned she was sick or hurt. But now all he seemed to care about was that he wasn’t getting what he wanted.
Sophia looked at him closely and, for the first time, felt something she’d never wanted to acknowledge-
The child she had raised, loved, and cared for over five long years….
In just over a week, he’d already started to change.
