“Mr. Blackwell, Miss Vivienne is running a high fever. The doctor says it’s acute sepsis–she needs a blood transfusion urgently. Only Miss Aurora matches her blood type.”
“If we don’t act fast, she might not make it through the night.”
Sebastian froze, then climbed off me.
His eyes swept over my battered body. There was a flicker of hesitation.
I’d just had a miscarriage. I’d been beaten half to death. Giving blood now…
But he couldn’t just watch Vivienne die.
He summoned the best hematologists in Brimhill and ordered them to take a full 1000ml of blood from me as gently as possible.
I collapsed against him, shaking. My face was ghostly pale, and the needle site had gone numb.
His hands trembled. His voice was complicated. “You’re off the hook for tonight. But don’t think donating blood things you’ll never have.”

Clutching my cold hand to my chest, I waited until he left.
Then I quietly packed everything I needed.
Sebastian, there is no next time.
At 3 a.m., the lock on my attic clicked.
Mason Thornwell stepped in, holding a vial of nano spray.
“Close your eyes. Count to three.‘
A searing burn spread across my face. I bit down on a cloth to muffle the scream.
Three seconds later, I opened my eyes to find a stranger staring back in the mirror.
“It lasts 48 hours. Let’s go.”
We slipped out the window and into the waiting car.
Five hundred meters away, the attic exploded into a heap of smoking ruins.
I didn’t look back.
In my heart, I whispered one final goodbye.
“Sebastian Blackwell… we’re done.”

She grabbed his hand, pressing it to her chest. “Sebastian, what if this illness… what if Aurora had something to do with it? She said I wasn’t good enough for you. What if—”
He cut her off with a smirk. “She barely leaves the house. You think she orchestrated this? You’re overthinking.”
Vivienne blinked, shocked.
He had never defended Aurora before.
Her smile stiffened.
When Sebastian returned to the mansion, all that was left… was rubble.
His assistant stood pale and silent. “Sir, there was an explosion… the attic… Miss Aurora didn’t survive.”
