Chapter 93

Adam sat at his desk, his wheek hair positioned perfectly as he pored over the investment loss reports spread before him like battlefield maps. His fingers moved from page to page, the blue vel visible beneath his skin as fatigue from consecutive workdays caught up with him.

A knock at the door broke his concentration.

“Come in,” he called, eyes still fixed on the damning figures.

Thomas entered carrying a tablet and a stack of account records, his usually cheerful face now matching the gravity of their discovery.

“Sir, Timothy found more evidence about those intercepted warnings Thomas said, approaching the desk.

Adam glanced up. “Show me.”

Thomas placed the tablet in front of him and pulled up a series of spreadsheets. “Three tourism projects in the eastern market and the western energy investment–all warning messages were systematically blocked before reaching you.”

Adam’s eyes narrowed as he studied the irregular transactions highlighted in red.

“That’s not all, Thomas continued, opening another file. “These are the documents Victor’s people tried to backdate. They changed the warning timestamps to make it look like you were slow to respond.” He swiped to another screen. “But the real kicker is this

investment flow record.”

Adam leaned forward, his shoulders tensing.

“Fifty million went to the resort project, but only thirty–two million actually got there. The rest was funneled through shell companies and ended up in Victor’s personal accounts.”

Thomas traced the web of transfers. “All these fund movements happened exactly when Victor’s personal investments were tanking. He used company money to cover his own losses.”

Adam sat back, his expression unreadable though his eyes burned with cold fury. After a moment of silence, he spoke.

“About one hundred seventy million diverted, he said, his voice eerily calm. “This isn’t petty theft. This is calculated fraud.”

He turned toward the window, the city skyline spreading beyond the glass. When he faced Thomas again, determination had settled across his features.

“Freeze all fund movements on these projects immediately, but keep it quiet,” Adam instructed. “Have Timothy personally take over the energy project finances.”

His fingers tapped the desk as he continued, “Contact the resort project partners at the same time. Use an audit excuse to temporarily halt all transfers. Both actions need to happen simultaneously–we can’t give Victor time to react.”

Thomas nodded, taking notes.

“First, we plug the leaks,” Adam continued. “Then we handle this internally. Victor’s personal investments are wiped out. We can use that to force him to compensate the company with his shares.”

Adam reached for another document. “Have Legal prepare two options–one where he admits fault to preserve family honor, another with legal measures if he doesn’t cooperate.”

Thomas looked up, surprised. You’re still giving him a way out? Ever after he deliberately blocked warnings and stole funds?”

“This isn’t about being nice,” Adam clarified. “It’s about protecting the company. A public scandal only helps our competitors. Making him pay internally while keeping Haven’s image intact works better for everyone.”

Thomas nodded, understanding washing over him. As he finished noting the instructions, his thoughts drifted beyond the immediate crisis.

Here was true leadership–Adam had just discovered his uncle had basically stolen 170 million, yet instead of blowing up, he was methodically planning damage control. Thomas couldn’t help but admire his boss’s cool head, though part of him still burned with

anger.

Victor’s selfishness was mind–boggling. He had risked Hayen Enterprise’s reputation, partnerships, and financial stability–all to cover his personal market gambling. Thomas’s jaw tightened as he considered the potential fallout.

Even handled internally, someone would have to answer for the 170 million loss. Project partners might lose trust. If word leaked, company stock would take a nosedive.

Yet Adam’s plan made perfect sense. By cutting off project funding, they would strangle Victor’s financial lifeline. The strategy. would force Victor to use personal shares and assets to make things right. It would strip his power without airing dirty laundry publicly.

Still, Thomas couldn’t help feeling frustrated that they were cleaning up Victor’s mess. No matter how smoothly Adam handled it, the fact remained that family had stabbed them in the back for personal gain.

Thomas’s expression must have shifted during these thoughts because Adam was watching him intently.

As his mind wandered, Thomas found himself thinking about Dr. Sterling’s treatments. His mood brightened slightly realizing that Adam’s legs were steadily improving. The timing couldn’t be better–once Adam‘ fully recovered, Victor wouldn’t stand a chance.

A wave of gratitude toward Irene washed over him. She wasn’t just a doctor; she had become vital to Haven Enterprise’s stability. Thomas made a mental note to ensure nothing interrupted Dr. Sterling’s treatment schedule. In his mind, she had become something of a lucky charm for both Adam and the company.

Adam had clearly noticed Thomas’s changing expressions.

“You’re dismissed,” Adam said suddenly. “You can go if you want.”

Thomas blinked, snapping back to reality. “Go where, sir?”

“The bathroom,” Adam replied, a rare hint of humor in his voice.

Thomas nodded automatically and walked toward the door. He had actually pulled it open before his brain caught up with the strange instruction. He stopped, turning back confused.

“Sir… why would I need to go to the bathroom?”

Adam glanced toward the door. “Your expression suggested you urgently needed to.”

Understanding hit Thomas like a gentle wave. A flush of warmth crept up his neck as he realized Adam had completely misread his expressions.

“I was just thinking about the situation, sir,” he managed, keeping his voice even.

Clearly, Adam replied, the corner of his mouth twitching slightly. Contact Timothy immediately about the energy project. I want control established before end of day.”
