Adam stared up at the towering Universal Studios entrance arch, mentally processing how he’d ended up here of all places. When he’d agreed to this family outing, he’d pictured a quiet park or maybe an art gallery–definitely not this buzzing epicenter of pure chaos. The morning air literally vibrated with squeals of excitement and non–stop chatter as crowds poured through the gates like
there was no tomorrow.
Thomas, total employee of the year material as always, whipped out his phone faster than you could say “VIP access. Til get us the special treatment right away, sir. Skip all these crazy lines-
“Hold it right there!” Lucas planted his hands on his hips, tiny belly rust forward with all the authority of a miniature CEO. “That’s basically cheating! Half the fun is doing everything the normal way the lines are, like, part of the whole experience!”
Thomas’s face scrunched up with worry as he glanced at Adam’s wheelchair. “But given the situation…”
“We’ve totally got this covered!” the triplets chimed in perfect sync, radiating enough determination to power a small city. “Uncle Adam’s in good hands!”
Adam fought back a smile, these kids and their bulldozer enthusiasm basically destroying his usual protocols. “Stand down, Thomas,” he said, his voice softening. “Let’s roll with their plan.”
The pure joy lighting up their faces? Worth every second of potential inconvenience. They formed up around his wheelchair like the world’s most adorable security detail, while Thomas brought up the rear, still looking like someone had just suggested filing corporate taxes by hand.
The crowd naturally parted for their unique squad–Irene leading the charge with a map, the triplets flanking Adam’s wheelchair which Thomas pushed with surgical precision, while Joseph and James brought up the rear at their own pace. Theme park staff kept shooting them looks that screamed “should we help?” but the triplets protective formation made it crystal clear they had everything under control.
First stop: Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where Lucas went full professor mode on Adam. “Check out that wand shop–they’ve literally got hundreds! And over there? That’s where the famous butterbeer happens!”
Lily tugged at Adam’s sleeve like an excited puppy. “Just look at that castle! It’s straight out of the movies!”
Even Alex, usually Mr. Cool–Calm–and–Collected, was totally fanboying out. “The architectural authenticity is mind–blowing,” he breathed, sounding more like a Design PhD than your average kindergartener.
The Jurassic World zone had Thomas practically jumping out of his skin when a life–sized T–Rex roared overhead. The triplets? They just waved at it like it was the neighborhood golden retriever. By the time they hit the Transformers ride, everyone was ready for a breather.
They found a chill spot in the rest area, where Irene immediately noticed her grandfather looking wiped. “Let me work some magic here,” she said, kneeling to massage Joseph’s tired legs with practiced expertise.
Looking up at Adam, she grinned. “So, how’s the theme park life treating you?”
“It’s… definitely different,” Adam admitted, watching the triplets chug water like they’d just crossed the Sahara. “Not my usual scene, but I’ll survive.”
“That’s because you’re literally married to your work!” Alex declared, lowering his water bottle with expert timing. “But now you’ve got us to drag you out and show you how to actually have fun!”

Lucas zoomed in on that comment like a heat–seeking missile, latching onto Thomas’s sleeve. “Pump the brakes there! You don’t even have a girlfriend! How are you planning to have kids when you might end up forever alone?”
Thomas clutched his chest like he’d been mortally wounded. “The disrespect! After everything I do for you guys! FYI, I’m actually saving up for my future wedding, thank you very much!”
“Oh. My. God.” Lily’s eyes lit up with that dangerous sparkle that usually preceded her most brilliant schemes. “You know who’d be perfect? Katherine! Mom’s assistant–she’s literally gorgeous and totally single! Want us to play matchmaker?”
Thomas perked up faster than a caffeine addict spotting coffee. “For real? Why isn’t she here today?”
Lily channeled her inner relationship guru, looking ridiculously wise for someone who still watched cartoons. “Thomas Uncle, you can’t rush true love. These things need time to marinate.”
Everyone lost it at her perfect imitation of a romance expert.
Thomas tried to keep a straight face and failed spectacularly. “Well, considering I’m basically your favorite uncle ever, maybe you could help a guy out?”
“Consider it handled!” Lucas thumped his chest with enough pride to fill a stadium.
Alex tilted his head, looking suspiciously innocent. “Quick question though–how good are you at taking hits?”
“Come again?” Thomas blinked.
“Well,” Alex explained with clinical precision, “Katherine happens to be a karate black belt. With international championships under
her belt.”
Thomas’s eyes went wide for a hot second before he rallied. “Pfft, no biggie! I’m basically indestructible! Been taking hits my whole
life!”
“Speaking of hits,” the triplets suddenly chorused like they’d rehearsed it, “can we check out the haunted house next?”
Joseph’s face creased with grandfatherly concern. “Isn’t that a bit intense for you munchkins?”
“Seriously,” Irene raised an eyebrow. “There are literally dozens of other rides-”
“Please!” Alex waved off their concerns like a tiny negotiator. “It’s all smoke and mirrors anyway.”
Lucas puffed up like a proud peacock. “I’ll be Mom’s personal bodyguard!”
“Uncle Adam’s getting my protection!” Lily declared with zero room for argument.
“And Great–grandfather’s safety is my responsibility!” Alex completed their protection squad assignments like a military strategist.
The adults shared knowing looks over their heads. These kids literally had an answer for everything.
“Well then,” Adam said dryly, “looks like we’re in capable hands.”
The triplets absolutely beamed at him, radiating enough pure joy to power Las Vegas. Somehow, these three tiny chaos agents had managed to flip his perfectly ordered world upside down–and honestly? He was kind of here for it.
