Genius Kids‘ Scheme: Claiming Daddy’s Billionaire Empre
Chapter 68
Irene walked Katherine to the door, favoring her healing ankle just sightly. Keep me in the loop about Brandon,‘ she murmured, leaning in close. “The second you hear anything.”
“You know me,” Katherine flashed her signature smile, though her eyes stayed serious. “You’ll be my first call, no questions asked.”
Katherine strode toward her eye–popping pink Lamborghini, her stilettos clicking against the pavement. At the car, she paused, gaze drifting to Adam’s villa next door. That DNA test was one hell of a bombshell, she mused, shaking her head at life’s crazy twists and
turns.
Inside, Irene had barely clicked the door shut when thundering footsteps announced incoming chaos. The triplets came flying down the stairs, faces lit up like they’d just won the lottery.
“What’s got you three bouncing off the walls?” Irene laughed, their excitement infectious. Whatever they were plotting, at least it had them over the moon.
Lucas launched himself at her like a heat–seeking missile, wrapping his arms around her in a full–body squeeze. “Mom!” he wheedled, unleashing his best persuasive voice. “We’ve been back forever and we haven’t done anything fun! Can we pretty please go somewhere tomorrow? It’s the weekend!”
He barreled on before she could get a word in edgewise. “Great–grandfather’s back is way better now, and we’re all just cooped up at home. Come on, let’s do something awesome – just us!”
–
Lily materialized at Irene’s other side, grabbing her hand and swaying it with practiced precision. “Mom,” she cooed, voice dripping honey, “we haven’t had any adventures in like, forever.” She turned up the charm to eleven. “And Great–grandfather’s here too – it’s perfect!”
Alex hung back slightly, but those big dark eyes of his were doing all the talking. For all his mini–adult act, he was clearly just as pumped as his partners in crime.
A twinge of guilt hit Irene. She really hadn’t taken them anywhere since coming back, had she? Between work and everything else, they’d been stuck doing the same old neighborhood walks.
“Oh, so now you’re climbing the walls?” she teased, playfully tweaking each tiny nose. “What happened to ‘preschool is boring, we don’t wanna make new friends“?”
The triplets immediately went full puppy–dog eyes – their secret weapon that could probably charm birds right out of trees.
“We just wanna hang out with you and Great–grandfather!” Lucas protested, face scrunched up in adorable determination.
Irene couldn’t help cracking up. Sure, she had Brandon’s surgery prep looming, plus Adam’s treatments… but looking at those hopeful little faces, how could she possibly say no? They deserved some proper family time.
“Alright, you win,” she conceded, immediately drowned out by squeals that could’ve shattered glass.
“You’re literally the most amazing mom ever!” Lily declared, launching into another crushing hug.
Irene wrapped her arms around her daughter, heart melting. These moments made everything worthwhile.
But the triplets weren’t done yet. That familiar mischievous spark danced in their eyes – clear sign that more schemes were brewing.
“Hey Mom,” Alex piped up, aiming for casual and missing by a mile, we should totally invite Uncle Adam. Can’t be good for him being stuck inside working 24/7. He needs some fresh air!”

Irene hesitated. “Well… we’d have to see if he’s up for it.”
The kids traded lightning–quick looks that practically screamed “Of course Daddy will!”
That evening during Adam’s treatment, the triplets arranged themselves at the foot of the bed, looking like butter wouldn’t melt in their mouths. Their eyes tracked Adam like adorable little surveillance cameras while Irene worked through the usual treatment.
“Uncle Adam,” they chimed in perfect sync, “whatcha doing tomorrow?”
“Work,” he replied simply. “Company stuff.”
Three noses wrinkled in perfect unison.
“Seriously? More work?” Lucas flopped backward with all the drama of a soap opera star. “Uncle Adam, you’re such a workaholic!
“We’re going on an adventure tomorrow!” Lily bounced, practically vibrating with excitement. “Come with us!!
Adam shook his head. “Thanks, but with the chair… don’t want to cramp your style.”
“No way!” they chorused. “Fresh air is totally what you need!”
“It’s scientifically proven,” Alex added earnestly, channeling his inner medical expert.
Lily slipped off the bed and padded over, taking Adam’s hand in both of hers. “We can’t just leave Uncle Adam here all alone,” she said softly, deploying weapons–grade cuteness.
Irene watched, caught between amusement and concern. They were being their usual bulldozer selves, but they had a point. “The kids aren’t wrong,” she admitted. “Some outdoor time would do wonders for your recovery. Being stuck inside isn’t doing you any
favors.”
“Actually,” Thomas chimed in helpfully, “our air purification system keeps the air quality better than-”
Lucas’s tiny fist connected with his leg. “You’re totally ruining it!” he complained. “Uncle Adam was this close!”
“Like fake air beats the real deal,” Alex added, eye–roll worthy of a teenager. His expression screamed “how are you this clueless?”
Thomas gaped, blindsided by this triple threat attack. “I… I just meant…” he stammered, thoroughly outmaneuvered by his pint- sized opponents.
Adam felt something warm unfurl in his chest watching them. These kids had a way of steamrolling right through his defenses with their fierce determination and transparent schemes.
“Well,” he said finally, voice softening, “since you’re twisting my arm about it…”
The triplets lit up brighter than fireworks on New Year’s Eve, joy sparkling in their identical eyes. They exchanged subtle glances, each thinking the same thing: Now our whole family will be together!
As the treatment concluded, the children gathered around Adam, their excited chatter about tomorrow’s plans filling the room with warmth. Thomas watched the scene with a fond smile, enjoying the cozy family atmosphere.
“We should get home and let Uncle Adam rest,* Irene said finally, gathering her medical supplies. “You three need your sleep too if we’re going on an adventure tomorrow.”
