Chapter 313 

Adam’s fingers drummed again his desk, the only crack in his otherwise perfect poker face. Silver City stretched beyond his window- -a maze where one desperate man was trying to disappear. 

“Any news?” he asked, not bothering to look up from his tablet. 

Thomas shifted his weight. “Police are all over it. Every train station airport, and exit from town has eyes on it. He allowed himself a small smile. “Haven name still opens doors–moment Jackson shows his face, he’s ours.”

The afternoon sun beat down on Silver City International Airport as Tommy spotted them immediately–men trying too hard to look casual, stationed near every exit. Not airport security. Not regular cops. Something else entirely. 

His heart hammered as he tugged his baseball cap lower. Thank god switched clothes. The hoodie instead of his usual jacket, fake glasses, even the way he walked–all changed. 

Haven’s people. Has to be. 

He pretended to check departure times while scanning for surveillance gaps. Years in security had taught him how to spot a trap, and this one was closing fast. He turned casually toward the restrooms, then slipped through a service corridor when nobody was 

looking. 

Outside, he jumped in a taxi, rattled off an address across town. At the mall, he weaved through the packed food court and out another entrance, constantly checking his back. 

Finally alone in an empty parking garage stairwell, he pulled out his burner phone. His thumb hovered over Samantha’s number as a family walked past–dad, mom, little girl laughing about something. His chest tightened. 

Kelly. Emma. A stabbing worry about his own wife and daughter hit him hard. 

He hit call, breath held. 

“What now?” Samantha snapped. 

“Airport’s crawling with Haven’s guys,” Tommy whispered, voice tight. Every exit covered. They’re after me like sharks smelling 

blood.” 

“Keep it down,” she hissed. “Where are you?”

Chapter 313.

“I said I’ll handle it. Text this number for the address. The call died bruptly. 

Tommy stared at his silent phone, a curse dying on his lips. Everything was coming apart. 

Across town, Samantha tossed her phone onto her desk like it had personally offended her. That idiot getting caught would blow everything wide open. This hideout wasn’t about saving his worthless skin—it was insurance for herself. 

“Damn it all,” she muttered, rubbing her temples. 

Her mind raced. Tomay needed to stay hidden and, more importantly, silent. She needed leverage–something to guarantee his loyalty when everything went sideways. 

Her lips curved into something that wasn’t quite a smile as the answer hit her. She grabbed her phone and dialed. 

“Need surveillance on a family,” she instructed coolly. “Tommy Jackson’s wife and daughter. Address is in his personnel file.” A pause. No contact, just watch them. And make sure they notice. I want them feeling eyes on their backs.” 

Perfect insurance. If Tommy even thought about selling her out, his precious family would pay the price. 

“That should keep our boy in line,” she murmured, setting down the phone with renewed confidence. 

Night had fallen by the time Thomas returned to Emerald Garden. Adam scrolled through reports as his assistant delivered the bad 

news. 

“He’s ghosted us. No airport, no bus stations. Still somewhere in the city.” 

Adam’s jaw tightened just enough to notice. “Then find him. Flip this city upside down if you have to.” 

“We’ve widened the net. Police are actually being helpful for once.” 

Adam leaned back, eyes narrowing in thought. “Someone’s helping him. Nobody vanishes this clean without backup.” His fingers tapped a quiet rhythm. “Look harder at Wright connections.” 

Thomas nodded. “Already digging there.” 

“Good Get out.” 

As Thomas turned to leave, Adam called after him. “Hey.” 

“Yeah?” 

“Keep it quiet. Irene doesn’t need this on her plate.” 

“Got it.” 

After Thomas left, Adam stared at the city sprawled before him, the lights blinking like distant stars. Whoever threatened his family would learn exactly how merciless he could be.

The call ended, leaving Tommy on the floor, head in his hands, trembling like he’d been thrown into a freezer.

Morning light streamed through the windows of Haven Enterprise as the monthly executive meeting ran with precision. Department heads delivered polished reports while Adam listened, occasionally dropping questions sharp enough to make them flinch. 

When the final presentation wrapped, Victor stepped forward, sliding a folder across the table with barely disguised ambition. 

“Before we finish,” he announced, eyes gleaming, “my proposal for restructuring overseas operations. Think you’ll find it… illuminating.” 

Adam flipped open Victor’s proposal, skimming the first page as the executives waited expectantly. The words blurred before his eyes–his uncle’s timing was as subtle as a brick through a window. 

“We’ll discuss this after I’ve reviewed it,” he said, voice steady despite his wandering focus. 

Victor nodded, pleased his submission hadn’t been immediately dismissed. The meeting continued, but Adam’s mind had already drifted back to his personal hunt–one that would end with Tommy Jackson wishing he’d never heard the name Sterling.
