Chapter 269
My Daddy’s Billionaire Empire
“No, she whispered against his chest, tears soaking through cotton.
The team worked around them, processing the scene while giving them space. Thomas directed with quiet efficiency, stealing glances at his boss with undisguised amazement.
Eventually, Adam’s legs began to shake from the effort. Without a word, Thomas wheeled the chair closer. Adam sank back, bringing Irene with him so she was half on his lap, his arm never leaving her.
“Boss, Thomas approached, voice low. “Look.”
In the corner, partially hidden behind a broken lamp, sat three small cameras positioned to capture the entire room.
Adam’s expression darkened. “Find them all.”
Thomas nodded, signaling his team. “They were streaming live somewhere. This wasn’t just a grab–and–ransom.”
Adam pulled his jacket off and wrapped it around Irene, covering her exposed skin. The message was clear–someone had staged this as a show.
“Get everything,” he said, voice deadly quiet. “I want to know who was watching, and why.”
He looked down at Irene, whose eyes had widened with fresh horror. Hospital first,” he said, leaving no room for argument. “Then somewhere safe.”
Thirty minutes later at the private hospital, a doctor finished examining Irene while Adam waited just outside the door, refusing to move further than that.
“Bruising, minor cuts–she’ll heal physically,” the doctor explained. “But mentally…” He lowered his voice. “Someone should stay with her tonight. Familiar face, comfortable setting. She shouldn’t be alone.”
Adam nodded once, already decided on that front.
Carmen burst through the doors minutes later, looking like she’d sprinted the whole way.
“Irene!” She rushed forward, stopping short at the sight of her friend. “God, I came as soon as I heard. Are you okay? What happened?”
Irene managed a weak smile. “I’m fine now. Adam found me.”
Carmen’s eyes darted between them, taking in Adam’s hovering presence and how Irene leaned toward him even from across the
room.
“García’s freaking out,” she said, squeezing Irene’s hand. “But I can see you’re in good hands. Something knowing flashed in her eyes. “Call if you need anything, okay?”
After she left, the hallway fell quiet except for distant hospital sounds. Irene stared at her hands..
“Don’t want to be alone tonight, she said, barely audible, hating how vulnerable she sounded but unable to hide it.
Adani moved closer. You won’t be.” Simple words, packed with promise. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Arene looked up, relief washing over her face. Her hand instinctively reached for his, needing the contact, the reassurance that he
was real. That this nightmare was over.

‘Nobody touches you again, he added, his fingers closing around hers. “Not while I’m breathing.”
His words sank into her like a warm blanket. Irene found herself leaning toward him without thinking, drawn to his steadiness like a magnet. The fear that had been choking her since the moment she was taken finally began to loosen its grip.
Meanwhile, back at the apartment building, Thomas remained behind, supervising the investigation. Phone pressed against his ear, his face grew darker by the second.
“Anonymous server, sir. Someone paid top dollar for this setup–wanted a specific kind of… content. His face tightened at what he couldn’t bring himself to say. “Working on the money trail now.”
Miles away, a woman’s finger with a fancy ring tapped against a desk She sat in shadow as she watched multiple screens go dark one by one. She grabbed her phone, dialing quickly.
“Hide. Now, she hissed. “Haven’s people are closing in. If they find you, we’re all done for.”
She ended the call, staring at the final screen showing Adam and Irene leaving the hospital together, his hand never leaving hers.
