Elias’s grip tightened around the remote as he stared at the screen, his heart pounding in his chest. The headline flashed over and over, mocking him.
His breath hitched. His mind refused to process it. No. No, this couldn’t be happening.
Something inside him twisted, something ugly and painful.
“Elias?”
Sabrina’s voice cut through the fog in his mind.
He turned slowly, still feeling like the ground had been pulled out from under him. Sabrina was staring at the screen, her face unreadable.
“How did this happen?” she murmured, her brows furrowing. “How did she end up with him? And what are they saying? Why am I suddenly… a what? I didn’t cause the accident. You have to clear my name!”
Elias didn’t answer. He couldn’t. His mind was spinning too fast, emotions crashing over him in
waves.
Sabrina hesitated, then stepped closer, placing a hand on his arm. “But before that, Elias… maybe this is for the better.”
His jaw clenched. “What?”
She let out a small, forced smile. “Maybe now we can finally move on. We can get married. Be a real family.”
Elias stared at her. Something inside him snapped.
Move on? She wanted him to move on? As if Veronica hadn’t been his wife for years? As if she hadn’t been the only woman he had ever truly cared for?
The realization hit him like a freight train. He had loved Veronica. He still did.
And he had destroyed her. His fists tightened as memories came rushing back- Her laughter on rainy days. Her warmth beside him in bed.
The way she had looked at him–with love, with devotion–before everything went to heil.
And now?
Now she was with Brandon
The thought made his chest ache
Sabnna frowned “Ehas?”
But he didn’t answer
He turned sharply, walking straight out of the hospital room
Sabrina called after him but he ignored her
He couldn’t breathe He needed to do something He needed to find Veronica. He dialed her number the moment he stepped into the car
Ring ring.
No answer. He tried again Nothing His hands tightened around the steering wheel

DDD.
Fine. If she wouldn’t answer, he would find her himself. He drove straight to Morrison Enterprises barely stopping at red lights, his heart slamming against his ribs the entire way.
He didn’t even think.
Didn’t plan. He just needed to see her.
To stop whatever the hell was happening before it was too late.
But before he could even step out of his car, his phone buzzed.
A message.
“Elias, we need to talk. We just met with the biggest major stockholder of Raines Corporation. You need to come in now.”
His stomach twisted.
He fired back a reply. “Who?”
The response came instantly.
‘Brandon Morrison.”
His world shattered.
He gripped his phone so hard it nearly cracked.
Brandon.
Not only was he taking Veronica-
But he had taken his company too?
His vision blurred with rage.
He stormed into the building, ignoring the receptionist, pushing past security, heading straigh or Brandon’s office.
His entire life was collapsing around him.
And the man behind it all-
Was waiting for him.
