Greta was taken to the hospital in the Capital under a different identity. Jaris ensured the people that would have access to her were very limited, and even the few that did, although being people he trusted, didn’t know who Greta was or why she was brought in that state. Jaris was ure news of her release wouldn’t get to Caden.
I couldn’t get over the state she’d be found in. I had been too shocked at first to believe that was human, let alone Jaris‘ mate. How could Caden have been so evil? So heartless?
And Marta? An entire family kept her locked up like some rat. These people had grandchildren!
The girl was messed up in the head. I couldn’t begin to imagine the mental and physical torture she must’ve had to put up with. Killing the Monroes wasn’t enough for me. Caden was the bigger monster here and now more than ever, I wanted to bring him to the ground.
I came up with a plan. It was a huge risk, but for the first time, I didn’t mind dying. If I get to take Caden down with me, I’d die with a smile.
I called Jaris on the phone. I was at the cabin with Marta while he was at the hospital with Greta and some others.
“I want to take Caden down. Tonight.”
I’ve never hated anyone as much as I did Caden. Gods, I could burn the world if it meant he’d burn with it.
“Are you sure we can do it tonight? We still have to find him.”
“We don’t. He’ll come to me.” I glanced back at the house where Marta was still chained. “Marta will be useful.”
“What do I get out of this?” The stupid woman had the guts to ask, staring down at the phone in her lap.
Jaris answered before I did.
“You get to stay alive for a few more hours till we’re done with you. I’ll say that’s you being more lucky than your family. They didn’t get this chance.”
Her sore eyes dropped to the phone. She’d been crying endlessly since Jaris told her he had killed her entire family. Funny how I didn’t feel a single pity
for her.
“What if he doesn’t believe me?” She sniffed.
“He will if you don’t give him a reason not to. You’ve been his informant for a long time. Right now, he doesn’t know you’ve been caught. So, he has no reason to doubt you.”
I picked up the phone from her lap. “You’re wasting time, Marta. We need him by nightfall.”
Putting the phone to her face, it unlocked with her ID. checked for Caden’s number.
Once again, Jaris reminded her of the dangers of deviating from the plan. I think he made her scared enough.
Finally, I placed the call, putting it on speaker.
“Yes?” his voice was raspy.
“Caden. What have you been doing?“,

“Well, obviously you’ve not been trying hard enough because they’re trying to elope! I just overheard Járis asking his Beta to prepare the jet. He’s also taking some of his belongings with him. I can’t believe he’s ready to leave everything behind and run away with her.”

The location was in a different cabin far from where Marta was.
I got there early enough to stay in position and waited for the monster to show up.
The sky darkened. My legs were cold, and my stomach churned with unease. Tonight was meant to be a historic one for me. For the first time, I’d fight for my future, my kids, and the man I loved. If everything went as planned, tonight was going to mark a new beginning.
He didn’t disappoint. The monster did come.
I was seated on the pavement outside the house, my legs calmly crossed and my expression calm even as I saw them approach. They came in three cars. Men rushed out with their claws and fangs bare, some carrying weapons. All of these for Jaris?
Caden took his time leaving the car. His eyes were bloodshot as they locked onto mine.
The evening was still young, so the sky provided us with a faint light, just enough for me to see the face of the man I was about to destroy.
I bet he didn’t have a single fear in him because he thought he was the one with the upper hand. To him, the only Siphon that could harm him was still a

His men filtered around the place, their eyes darting around, no doubt, searching for Jaris.

Caden continued spitting out blood. He should’ve passed out by now. The monster was trying so hard to fight the venom. Unfortunately, it was useless, and Jaris didn’t have any intention of putting him to sleep again.
“Jaris!”
We turned at the sound of Maddy’s voice. What was she doing here?
“Jaris, don’t. You can’t do this. Please!”
She was shedding tears.
“I know everything. I knew something suspicious was going on and tracked Nerion’s car. I found Marta. She told me everything.” She looked at Caden. “Everything.”
She sniffled. “But he’s our brother. You can’t kill him, Jaris. Please, don’t.”
Jaris‘ expression didn’t shift, not even with surprise. He simply returned his gaze to Caden, as if Maddy were absent beside him.
“Caden is no brother of mine. I lost the brother I used to know long before now.”

“No,” Maddy shook her head. “Jarls, don’t. No!!!”
The Alpha Feeders were the only ones who could kill themselves. And right there, Jaris killed his brother.
He sliced his hand through his neck with a force only they could have, smoothly decapitating him.
Even I was filled with horror as I watched Caden’s head roll off to the ground. His body dropped next to me. I flinched and quickly stepped back, relieved it didn’t get to touch me.
The world around me blurred as my eyes zeroed solely on Caden’s head.
He was gone. The monster was gone.
