It was like I was on fire. My head was about
to explode.
“Why did you say that?”
“I was just stating facts. You really think you
can hide anything from your sister? She’s the
one who asked you to walk me home the
other night. She can see your Instagram, too.
I think your sister knows you don’t have a
boyfriend.”
I was speechless.
He was right.
Danny sighed, “Oh, and your sister sent me a
message a while ago.”
He pulled out his phone and showed me.
My sister had texted him, “Are you a dog?
You practically ate Paris alive. She has a
carotid artery, you know. Don’t you ever kiss
her neck like that again!”
And Danny replied, “Okay, I’ll be gentler next
time.”
Next time?
I was humiliated.
Up ahead, my sister and Vince turned around
and gave me a thumbs up.
I had no idea who I was or where I was.
Danny asked me, “Paris, it’s been eight years.
I’m asking you now: will you be my
girlfriend?”

The wind stopped.
All I could see was Danny and the sun.
I wish that was the end of our story.
