Chapter 98
Chapter 98
‘Blake Lambert really knew how to be brutal, Skylar thought, seeing his earlier handling of Freya.
Skylar said calmly, “Well, then you’d better get it fixed and return it to me.”
Freya had hoped to provoke a fight with Skylar, play the victim, maybe even get “accidentally” hurt to win everyone’s sympathy. But Skylar didn’t play along at all.
Freya was about to burst into tears. Ever since Skylar returned, nothing had gone her way.
‘Why isn’t that bitch Skylar out of my life already!‘ she fumed internally.
Skylar easily spotted the hatred in Freya’s eyes and smirked. “You don’t seem too happy about it, Freya, Should I ask Blake to help me get it fixed instead?”
“No,” Freya ground out, forcing the words. “I’ll get it fixed. Don’t you worry, Skylar.”
Skylar nodded. “I hope you can get it done quickly.”
Freya managed a smile that was more like a grimace.
That evening, as the family chatted downstairs after dinner, Victor Lambert brought up “Moonlit Hunt” again, asking about the progress of securing the rights.
“If you’re not sure you can handle it, you can always ask Blake,” Victor suggested.
Freya’s heart lurched. She quickly waved her hands. “No, no, it’s fine! Why bother Blake with such a small thing? I can handle it myself.”
“Alright, but if you do need help, just ask,” Victor said.
Freya nodded with a smile, then quickly looked down at her phone, a knot of anxiety in her stomach.
‘Why hasn’t that damn author posted anything? It’s been ages, can’t they even finalize a contract?‘ If this dragged on, she didn’t know how she’d keep up the charade.
Skylar watched Freya’s every move with amusement, a silent observer with a god–like perspective.
She took her time, waiting until she had finalized the terms with her editor before officially agreeing to sign the contract.
Once she’d informed her editor, she immediately posted the news of the successful signing online.
The moment she posted, Freya updated her X account.
Soon, [Moonlit Hunt author sells rights] was trending/
[Woke up to my world collapsing, WTF?]
[Why sell? I can’t imagine anyone good enough to act in our Moonlit Hunt.]
[The author being the screenwriter is the only silver lining.]
Many fans were outraged, not wanting “Moonlit Hunt” to be adapted at all. But it was a done deal, nothing could stop it.
They started polls, listing stars they wanted the screenwriter to cast. The buzz pushed “Moonlit Hunt” back into the trending topics, along with heated discussions about who should be cast.

Skylar glanced at the discussions. She had no intention of picking big name celebrities.
She wanted open auditions to find the actors best suited for the roles.
Elianna Stone had also taken notice of “Moonlit Hunt.”
The book had a massive fanbase; landing the lead role would undoubtedly attract a huge number of new followers.
It could be her ticket to breaking into the film industry, elevating her career and resources to a whole new level.
Elianna grinned, the smile nearly reaching her ears.
Since the movie was a Campbell Group project, and she was the future matriarch of the Campbell Group, getting a role should be a piece of cake.
She immediately had her agent, Mona Gibson, contact the project manager and tell him to reserve the lead female role for her.
The manager sounded troubled. “Ms. Gibson, it’s not that we don’t want to help Ms. Stone, but we honestly don’t have that authority. Perhaps you could try speaking to Mr. Campbell directly?”
Before Mona could reply, he hung up.
Mona relayed the message to Elianna.
