Chapter 86
“Got it. Send me their details shortly. I need to review them before deciding whether to sell,” said Skylar.
“Sure, I’ll send them right away.” She hung up and immediately sent over the company profile.
As soon as Skylar opened the file, the bold, familiar Campbell Group logo instantly caught her eye.
Skylar said, “The Campbell Group. No wonder they’re spending money like water.”
Without reading any further, Skylar got up, unpacked her suitcase, took a shower, and settled down for a nap.
At night, Freya returned home.
Victor pulled Freya aside and questioned her about what had happened earlier.
Victor asked, “Freya, did you lie to me?”
“Victor, how could you doubt me?” Freya looked aggrieved, lowering her head as tears began to fall. “Why would I hurt myself just to frame Skylar?
“Victor, we’ve lived together all these years. Don’t you know me better than that?”
Victor frowned slightly, “I know you’re not the scheming type, Freya. I was wrong to doubt you.”
Freya wiped away her tears and said softly, “It’s okay, Victor. I know you didn’t mean to hurt me.”
She gestured to her tear–streaked face. “I’ll go freshen up so Mom and Dad won’t worry.”
Victor nodded.
Freya turned, her eyes frosting over in an instant.
She thought, ‘Skylar must have told Victor something. Why else would he confront me like that?
‘Skylar acts righteous, but she’s just a two–faced backstabber.‘
Skylar got up to head downstairs for dinner, only to run into Freya, who was heading back to her room.
The two came face–to–face in the hallway.
Freya shot her a venomous glare. “Your scheming little instigator.”
Skylar looked at her, puzzled. “Freya, are you out of your mind?”
Freya scoffed and walked away without another word.
She was afraid she wouldn’t be able to stop herself from arguing with Skylar. If she made a scene, it would only do more harm than good.
Skylar raised an eyebrow, thinking, ‘What’s up with her today? Is she acting out of character or something?
‘Freya would usually be right in my face, finger–pointing and screaming by now.
‘It’s the first time she just said one thing and walked away.‘
Skylar looked away and walked downstairs in her slippers.
After dinner, the family sat around, munching on fruit and chatting.

To appear obedient and thoughtful, Freya stayed downstairs to massage Yana’s shoulders. “Mom, is this pressure okay?” she asked sweetly.
“Freya, don’t trouble yourself. Just sit down,” Yana said coldly.
Freya had been on her best behavior these past few days, yet Yana couldn’t bring herself to treat Freya with the same warmth as before.
Ever since Skylar came back, so much had happened. Yana wasn’t naive. She could let things slide the first couple of times and forgive Freya.
But after it happened so many times, Yana began to see through her act.
Freya wasn’t as sweet and well–behaved as she appeared.
Freya immediately panicked, looking lost and helpless. “Mom, did I do something wrong?”
Seeing that Freya was on the verge of tears, Carlos quickly stepped in. “Your mom didn’t mean it that way. She’s just concerned you might be tired and wants you to take a break.”
Freya’s eyes welled up with tears as she whispered, “Mom…”
Yana gave a brief nod.
She then moved to sit beside Victor.
Victor happened to notice that the rights to Sapphire’s novel, “Moonlit Hunt“, had just been acquired by the Campbell Group.
They were about to sign the contract, and if all went well, casting would begin shortly.
Victor was a devoted fan of “Moonlit Hunt“. He had been following it since the very first chapter, tipping the author 3 thousand every day and leaving her encouraging comments.
Back then, he was still a nobody in showbiz. He used to dream that if this book ever blew up and sold its movie rights, he would get to audition for the lead role.
He never thought it would actually happen today.
