Victor shifted slightly, shielding Skylar behind him as he locked eyes with Yosef. “Get out now?
Since he’d already been asked to leave, stayin
any longer would just make him a joke.
Yosef turned and walked away, his face expressionless..
Without even glancing at him, Skylar helped
or into the hut.
Victor looked at Skylar and asked, “Skylar, what’s really going on between you and him?”
Skylar remained silent for a moment before lowering her head. “It’s nothing.”
The tension between them clearly suggested there was more to the story.
Victor could tell she didn’t want to talk about it, so he wasn’t going to push her.
Yosef headed back to Elianna’s place.
Elianna blurted out, “Yosef, how is Skylar?”
“Skylar refused the settlement,” Yosef said flatly.
“What?” Elianna screamed, her voice piercingly shrill.
Elianna anxiously glanced at Yosef. Seeing no reaction from him, she adopted a frail tone and pleaded pitifully, “What am I supposed to do? I can’t go to jail.
“If I go to jail, what about Adam? I might as well die right now instead of becoming a stain on his life.”
Tears streaming down her face, Elianna scrambled off the bed, snatched the knife from the table, and pressed it against her throat.
Yosef grabbed her wrist, wrenched the knife from her hand, and flung it aside. “Calm down. There’s still a way out. I’ll help you, but you have to promise me. No more messing with Skylar.”
Elianna bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. “How am I the one provoking her? She’s the one who just won’t leave me alone.”
Yosef said, “Either way, steer clear of her from now on.”
Elianna thought resentfully, ‘Why do I have to be the one to avoid her? If anyone should back off, it’s Skylar.”
Elianna nodded obediently, putting on a sweet, docile face. But in her mind, she was viciously cursing Skylar out.
Yosef pulled some strings to get Elianna a falsified hospital report claiming she had a life–threatening condition, forcing the police to release her on medical parole.
He ordered Hudson to purge all negative mentions of Elianna online.
Elianna was off the hook.
Skylar stared at the vanished news reports and the notification from the police, a bitter laugh escaping her lips.
She thought, ‘Yosef must be completely obsessed with Elianna. Even after all this, he still won’t give up on her. How touching.
Skylar’s knuckles whitened as she clenched her phone.
“Skylar, are you all packed?” Victor asked.

Skylar finally relaxed.“Yeah.”
“Let’s get in the car and head home.” Victor gingerly made his way out, leaning heavily on his crutch
He was seriously injured this time. He informed his agent that he would halt all work commitments and take medical leave to recuperate at home for
while.
With Victor no longer on the show, Skylar saw no point in staying either. After negotiating the penalty fee with the producers, she decided to go back with
him.
They left separately to avoid arousing suspicion.
They met up at the airport and took the same flight.
After they left, Elianna followed Yosef back.
In the car, Elianna scrolled through X and saw people still talking about how she nearly got Skylar and Caden killed by that wild boar
The comment section was full of hate.
The more Elianna scrolled, the angrier she became.
“Yosef,” she complained, “didn’t you already handle everything for me? Then why are people still talking about me?”
“Look at this,” Elianna said, her eyes red–rimmed as she shoved her phone toward Yosef.
Yosef glanced at it briefly before looking away. In a cold voice, he said, “Just don’t stir up any more drama for now, and you’ll be fine.”
