Carlos felt a wave of relief when he saw the smile return to Freya’s face.
He knew last night’s incident had nothing to do with her. Yana, feeling sorry for Skylar, had said some harsh words to Freya.
He didn’t want Freya to think they were favoring their biological daughter and completely ignoring her–after all, she had been part of the family for so
many years.
He hoped they could all get along peacefully, without any conflicts. After all, they were both their daughters–being caught in the middle was truly difficult.
Carlos sighed softly.
Freya’s mood visibly lifted. She went out and splurged wildly using the card Carlos had given her. After the shopping spree, she was in an even better mood.
That evening, she gathered a few close male friends, plus some other friends who hadn’t fallen out with her, and headed to a bar for drinks.
Suddenly, one of the guys spoke up, “Freya, I heard the new younger sister who just came back to your family is really beautiful?”
“Seriously, she’s gorgeous, no joke. I followed my parents there last time,” said Ryan, another guy. Then he clicked his tongue and added, “Patrick, you really missed out for not going.”
A girl who had attended the party the night before sneered, “What good is being pretty? You all don’t know–she’s been to jail before, and she’s violent as
hell.”
“Wait, what?” Ryan’s eyes widened in disbelief. “No way. She looks so well–behaved. How could she be a fighter and a convict?”
“It’s true. She even admitted it herself.”
“Even a jade can have flaws – let alone people,” Patrick took a sip of his drink, expression serious. “But she’s pretty formidable. You guys know that capsule she sells? it alone made the company, which the Lambert family had been sinking money into for years, rake in billions.”
“Patrick, why do you keep praising her? Don’t you know how badly she bullied Freya?” said Ryan.
He had always liked Freya. He had confessed to her before but was rejected. Now hearing she’d been bullied, his temper flared immediately.
“Can’t believe she’s such a snake in the grass,” complained Ryan/ “Freya, tell me how she bullied you.”
“It’s not what you think. I wasn’t bullied,” Freya said, though her eyes quickly reddened. She looked down, clearly hurt.
Ryan’s heart ached. “Freya, don’t be afraid. Tell me I’ll make sure she gets what she deserves.”
Freya sighed deeply, then exaggerated the events of the past days. At the end, she added, “But it’s not really her fault. She’s been through so much outside. It’s normal she dislikes me.”
“She was swapped at birth–that’s not on you. Don’t carry the guilt,” said Ryan.
Patrick put down his glass, looking serious. “If what you say is true, your parents really like her now. And with her recent achievements, you’re in trouble.”
Freya’s expression shifted. “What do you mean?
“She’s already been accepted into the company and made some progress. What’s the next step?” added Patrick.
The hidden word was clear. The next step for Skylar was to join Lambert Group. Freya bit her lip.
Chapter 50
“You’re way behind her,” added Patrick. “If you don’t catch up soon, there won’t be a place for you in Lambert Group.
Freya couldn’t sit still anymore. “I have something to do. I’ll head back first, You guys go ahead, the bill’s on me.
She rushed home and confirmed with the housekeeper that Carlos was in his study. Without hesitation, she knocked and entered after getting a response.
“Dad,” she said softly.
Carlos looked up, smiling as he gestured toward the sofa. “You’re back. Have a seat.”
She settled onto the sofa beside him. “Dad, I feel like sitting around doing nothing at home makes me look lazy and unambitious.”
“What do you mean?” Carlos frowned. “Did someone say something to you?”
“No one said anything,” Freya shook her head. “I see Skylar leaves early and comes home late every day, working hard for the company. And brothers are busy with their own careers, so busy they hardly see each other all year.”
“But me, I feel like I’m doing nothing.” Freya looked downcast. “Dad, I want to contribute to the family, just like Skylar.”
Carlos supported her desire but worried she might not hold up. “Your idea is good, but are you sure you can handle the hardships?”
He knew it well. Running a company isn’t just talk. One wrong move, and the whole thing could collapse.
As the CEO, the countless daily problems aren’t like on TV–just reading reports and dining at fancy restaurants.
“I know, Dad. Don’t worry. I won’t let you down,” Freya nodded.
“Alright, since you’re confident, I won’t say more.” Carlos smiled warmly. “What kind of company do you want to start?”
“I want Mom’s design company,” Freya said, revealing what she’d long decided. “I studied art, so a design company fits my background and will be easier to manage.”
Without hesitation, Carlos agreed. “Okay, I’ll talk to your mother about it tonight.”
“Thanks, Dad,” with her goal in sight, Freya couldn’t help but smile.
‘Skylar, I’ll build my company bigger than yours yet. I want Mom and Dad to see who their most outstanding daughter really is,‘ she told herself.
The next day, Freya received the company’s equity transfer documents.
“Thanks, Mom,” she gave Yana a smile.
Yana waved her hand. “Just take over and work hard. the Lambert family may be big, but if you mess up, people will just laugh at you.”
Freya nodded resolutely. “Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll make sure to succeed.”
Yana nodded, and then turned to Skylar. “Skylar, I heard you’re developing CardioShield capsule next?”
When Carlos was ill, Yana bought one too, costing a few millions per capsule.
Though expensive, they truly worked for heart conditions, so there was strong demand despite the price.
Now that Skylar was working on the capsule, she worried it might cause trouble.
Skylar smiled. “Don’t worry, Mom. Nothing will happen.”
“As long as you know what you’re doing. If anything comes up, just tell us,” added Yana.

“Got it.”
Freya couldn’t help rolling her eyes in her heart. The capsule had such a big reputation, and Skylar dared to me overestimating herself.
She didn’t even need to intervene–she could just watch Skylar bring about her own downfall
Skylar met her mocking gaze with an indifferent expression.
After breakfast, Freya went to the company.
She was planning how to grow it bigger and stronger when she saw a news report that shattered her mood.
