Chapter 48
The surrounding noise suddenly stopped in an instant.
The person speaking widened her eyes, stepped forward, and stared fixedly at Skylar.
“I never expected that after getting out of prison, you’d do quite well for yourself.”
Qiana greedily looked at everything belonging to the Lambert family. “Doing so well, yet you don’t even try to promote your old cellmates.”
“What did you just say?” The lady who had spoken to Skylar before frowned. “You said she’s been to prison?”
“Yeah, we were in the same prison,” said Qiana. “You don’t know—Ms. Stone was the boss in the cell. She could take down several people on her own.”
The ladies around them all stepped back, wanting to get as far away from Skylar as possible. They stared at her, whispering among themselves.
“Oh my god, I never thought that you really can’t judge a book by its cover. She’s actually been to prison!” one said.
“No one even knows what she did. Hopefully, it wasn’t murder?” another added.
“Didn’t you hear what that person just said about how fierce she was? I bet she’s in there for killing someone.”
“Mr. Lambert and the others really are too naive to bring someone like that back and let her be sisters with Freya. How can they be so careless? Aren’t they worried Freya might get bullied?”
“So scary… Can she just leave? I don’t want to see a murderer here.”
Skylar heard every word they said. Adam clenched his fists, ready to rush forward, but Skylar grabbed him tightly, holding him still.
She sneered coldly. “Yes, I’ve been to prison, but it wasn’t for murder.”
Her indifferent eyes swept across everyone present with a threatening air: “But if you don’t clean up your mouths, I won’t mind making sure you’ll never say another word again.”
At that moment, everyone tacitly shut up. Some timid ones even began to cry, regretting coming to the party.
“My dear sister, this person was invited by you, right?” Skylar turned to Freya.
Freya’s face was calm. She blinked innocently and shook her head. “No, I don’t even know how she got here. I’ll check right now. How can someone who’s been to prison come to work in our home?”
“Is that so?” Skylar raised her brow. “If you didn’t invite her, then she’s trespassing.”
She then took out her phone and dialed the police in front of everyone.
“Hello, officer,” she replied to the phone. “Someone trespassed in my home. I suspect she’s here to steal, and this person has a criminal record from prison. I’m afraid it’s more than just theft.”
“Yes, I hope you can send someone over quickly.”
Qiana trembled all over, “Skylar, I didn’t come here to steal, don’t talk nonsense!”
Qiana swore loudly, “Skylar, I was invited here. I’m not here to steal. Don’t call the police. I don’t want to
Skylar ignored her completely, hung up, and immediately called again. “Sophie, help me find a lawyer, right now.”

back to prison.”
Skylar signaled the bodyguards behind Adam to cover Qiana’s mouth.

With a terrified look on her face, Qiana tried to run but couldn’t escape. Her face flushed red.
After finishing the call, Skylar’s gaze swept over everyone present. She ordered the servants, “Watch the doors. No one is allowed out
The ladies there were stunned. Freya was also dumbfounded. Skylar’s reaction was beyond her expectations.
She forced a smile, “Skylar, don’t you think you’re overdoing it?”
“I’m just defending my rights. What’s wrong with that?” Skylar crossed her arms, cold eyes passing over her face. “Since you’re not involved, just stay out of it. Otherwise, I’d think everything tonight was deliberately planned by you.”
“You know my methods – if I’m not happy, no one gets off easy,” she added, standing tall and firm.
Adam copied her posture, standing by her side like a little bodyguard, his soft face serious.
The ladies grew even more nervous hearing about the police and lawyer. Especially those who had insulted her earlier, their hearts pounded and their palms sweated cold.
When the police arrived and learned the situation, they took Qiana away.
Qiana was taken off, still shouting injustice, “Skylar, you’re ruthless, just wait!”
But she was scolded by the police and had to shut up, behaving obediently.
Later, Sophie arrived with the lawyer.
“Ms. Lambert, this is Mr. Baker, top–notch in his field,” said Sophie.
Skylar nodded. “Mr. Baker, the next steps will be in your hands.”
“It’s my duty.” Kaleb adjusted his glasses and smiled softly, but the eyes behind the frames were sharp enough to intimidate.
“Skylar, we only said a few truths. Even if you called a lawyer, you can’t do anything to us,” one of the ladies spoke up.
“Yeah, it’s not a big deal. At worst, we’ll apologize. No need to make such a scene,” another agreed.
Freya didn’t want to offend these ladies over tonight’s matter. “Skylar, Mom and Dad care about face. What you’re doing will upset them.”
Skylar sneered, “I was wronged, and I’m standing up for myself. I don’t see anything wrong with that. I don’t care what Mom and Dad think. If it gets bad, I can leave the Lambert family. I’m not stuck here.”
She then turned to the ladies. “You, and you too–I remember everything you just said. If you dared to say it, you should be able to bear the consequences. Don’t think you can speak without responsibility. The law will punish anyone who disrespects it”
“You’re crazy!” One of the ladies couldn’t help but snap at her, “Freya, hurry and call Mr. and Mrs. Lambert back to control this madwoman!”
Carlos and Yana, worried the girls wouldn’t have fun with the adults around, had gone out for some time alone, freeing the house for them.
Freya didn’t expect things to escalate this far. If Skylar really sued them, they would definitely resent her for inviting them here.
She dialed the phone anxiously, telling them to hurry back.
“Mom, Dad, don’t ask now,” she almost screamed to the phone. “The house is in chaos. Come back quickly.”
Carlos and Yana rushed back. Seeing a group of ladies standing in the brightly decorated living room, with Skylar and Adam on t sides looked like they were about to clash.
The atmosphere was tense, a battle about to erupt.

“what’s going on here?” Carlos glanced at his two daughters, confused.
Freya walked to his side, full of guilt. “Dad, it’s like this…”
She explained to Carlos, and then added, “It’s all my fault. If I hadn’t held this party, none of this would’ve happened.”
“Who let that person in?” Carlos’s face darkened. “Our security system isn’t a joke. How could she get in without an invitation?”
Carlos’s angry eyes swept over the group of ladies. “And you, slandering Skylar as a murderer without any proof? Is this how your parents taught you to talk?”
Yana was furious too. She had no idea Skylar had suffered so much in places unknown to them.
