“This was a plan your mom and I came up with,” Yosef explained their scheme to Adam in simple, easy to understand terms
Adam nodded as he listened. “Oh, so that’s what happened. I really thought Mommy couldn’t save you.”
Yosef gently pinched Adam’s cheek and said, “Your mom is amazing–there’s nothing she can’t do.”
Adam’s eyes sparkled. “Mommy, you’re the best doctor ever!”
Then he held out his arms. “Mommy, hug me!”
Skylar bent down to pick up Adam, and he immediately threw his arms around Skylar’s neck, tugging hard to pull her closer for a kiss.
Caught off guard, Skylar lost her balance and stumbled forward.
Yosef caught Skylar just in time, his arm hooking around her waist and pulling her straight onto the bed.
Feeling guilty, Adam buried himself in Yosef’s embrace and mumbled, “Sorry, Mommy. I didn’t mean to.”
Skylar ended up sprawled awkwardly on top of Yosef. Realizing there were still people in the room, her cheeks flushed instantly.
Flustered, Skylar scrambled off Yosef, nearly tripping over herself as she climbed down from the bed.
“I–I have to speak with the doctor,” Skylar said.
And with that, she fled the room without looking back.
Adam tilted his head, nervously biting his finger. “Daddy, is Mommy mad at me?” he asked.
Adam wondered, ‘Mommy didn’t even look at me just now… Is she very angry?‘
Yosef leaned down and gently ruffled Adam’s hair. “Don’t worry, buddy. Your mommy’s just a little embarrassed.”
“Oh, now I get it!” Adam said.
Skylar found a reason to slip away, heading toward a spot where the breeze gently touched her skin, helping cool the flush on her face. Only when the
heat had subsided did she return to the room.
Adam was already fast asleep, nestled snugly in Yosef’s arms. Yosef held him carefully, his expression soft and full of warmth.
Skylar paused at the hospital room doorway, hesitating to interrupt the tender moment between father and son.
“What are you standing there for?” Yosef whispered, his dark eyes settling gently on Skylar.
Skylar stepped quietly into the ward. “Lay Adam on the bed so he can sleep,” she said softly.
“If I lay him down, he’ll wake up,” Yosef said softly. “It’s okay. I’ll hold onto him.”
Skylar pressed her lips together. She knew that Adam was terrified during the two days Yosef was in a coma.
“Zachary didn’t name anyone. How are you going to find out who’s behind this?” Skylar asked.
“People like that always slip up eventually,” Yosef replied evenly.
Since Yosef was not worried, Skylar saw no reason to worry either.”
Skylar’s eyes fell on Adam, who was still clinging tightly to Yosef’s hospital gown. “Take Adam home with you for the next couple of days,” she said.

Chapter 305
“Alright,” Yosef replied. “Any updates on Adam’s condition?”
“He needs surgery. But before that, I need to prepare a medicinal formula to improve his odds. A few herbs are rare–i haven’t found them yet aga
said.
Yosef asked, “What kind of herbs?”
Skylar quickly typed out the names of the herbs on her phone and sent the list to Yosef. “The earlier we treat Adam, the better his chances. We’ll need in act fast and track down those herbs.”
Yosef nodded.
Skylar left the hospital before Adam woke up.
Skylar had been swamped with work lately and knew she would not have much time for Adam.
Fortunately, Adam seemed happy to stick close to Yosef for now, and leaving Adam there allowed Skylar to focus on work.
Skylar’s company had recently signed two new artists, and she needed to assess whether either of them had long–term potential.
Back at the office, Skylar stepped inside–and immediately sensed something was off.
Someone lunged at Skylar from behind. In one fluid motion, she spun around and delivered a powerful kick that sent the assailant flying.
The attacker hit the ground hard and let out a howl. “Damn, that hurts like hell!”
Skylar closed the distance in quick strides, her hand clamping around the attacker’s throat. “Who are you?” she demanded sharply. “Who sent you? What’s your purpose?”
Skylar fired off a barrage of questions, leaving the man on the floor stunned–his mind went blank and he could not get a single word out for a long time.
