Chapter 304
I can’t let him regain consciousness, Zachary thought.
Zachary’s expression was ice cold as he pulled out a syringe pre–filled with sedative. Without hesitation, he drove it down towed Tosat’s hard with deadly intent.
But just as the needle was a finger’s length away from its target, someone seized his wrist mid air.
Zachary’s eyes narrowed sharply. He tried to yank himself free, but Yosef’s grip was far too strong.
It was not the strength of someone who had just woken from a coma–no, Yosef must have been awake for a while already.
Yosef had been faking it this whole time, lying low in the hospital just to lure Zachary out.
“You really are something, Zachary,” Yosef said, sitting up straight in bed, voice calm but laced with menace. “You’ve got quite the reach. Even my own. people were bought off by you.”
Zachary quickly composed himself, feigning innocence. “Yosef, what are you talking about? I honestly have no idea what you mean.”
“Still playing dumb?” Yosef’s eyes swept over Zachary, landing on the nurse’s uniform Zachary was wearing.
Zachary glanced down at the uniform he was wearing and cursed inwardly, but quickly composed himself. He explained, “I just wanted to visit you Figured they might not let me in, so I dressed up as a nurse.”
Yosef gave him a look reserved for fools. “Please. You came to check if I was dead, When you saw I wasn’t, you planned to finish the job.”
Yosef lifted his arm–the one that had stopped Zachary cold. The syringe was still in Zachary’s hand. “Caught red–handed, and you’re still trying to talk your way out of it?” Yosef said coldly.
Zachary’s eyes darkened as he muttered, “In the end, I was outplayed.”
Yosef barked an order toward the door. Instantly, the bodyguards outside burst in and seized Zachary.
Yosef sat up in bed and adjusted the blanket
your own. Tell me–who’s helping you?”
Over his legs. “Bribing someone inside the Campbell Group? That’s not something you could’ve pulled off on
Zachary let out a scoff. “The more you want to know, the less I feel like telling you. If you’re so capable, go dig up the truth yourself.”
“You really think I can’t find out?” Yosef said, his tone laced with confidence.
Zachary sneered. “Go ahead, then. Let’s see what you can dig up.”
Yosef ignored him and ordered the two bodyguards, “Call the cops, and hand him over to them.”
Zachary slouched in their grip, completely relaxed–there was not even a flicker of fear in his expression. In fact, he looked smug. “Doesn’t matter. I’ll be out soon anyway. You’ve got nothing on me.”
Just then, Skylar appeared at the doorway, holding Adam’s hand. Her gaze locked with Zachary’s as the guards dragged him past her.
Zachary whistled at Skylar. “My dear Skylar, wait for me–I’ll be back for you.”
Adam could not stand seeing Skylar being harassed. He marched right up and kicked Zachary. “Stop bullying my mom, you bi
e!” he yelled.
Zachary laughed. “That’s all you’ve got, you little brat? Felt more like a tickle.”
Adam’s face puffed up in anger. Furious, he charged forward to kick Zachary again—but Skylar pulled him back just in time.

Unfazed, Skylar said calmly, “Adam, if someone attacks you, don’t fight fire with fire. You’ll only end up looking works and stooping to that, Los
Adam nodded half–understandingly. “You’re fight, Mommy.”
Zachary’s face darkened. “My dear Skylar, you still have that sharp tongue of yours.”
“It’s certainly sharper than yours,” Skylar retorted coolly.
Zachary smiled darkly. “Just wait. In the end, you’ll come back to me.”
Skylar sneered. “We’ll see about that.”
Zachary was escorted away as Skylar took Adam’s hand and walked into the hospital ward.
Adam’s eyes lit up when he saw Yosef awake and sitting up in bed. He scrambled excitedly onto the bed and exclaimed, “Daddy! You’re awake!
Yosef hugged him and said, “Your mommy helped me get rid of the poison.”
Adam glanced between his parents, puzzled. “But didn’t Mommy say there was no way to cure you?”
