Observing Adam’s predicament, Skylar quick
called off the fight, forcefully pushed the man to the ground, and dashed towards Adam. However, Yosef was quicker than Skylar. He seized the woman by the shoulders, pivoted her around, and took Adam from her grasp.
The woman winced as pain shot through her shoulder, yet she stubbornly maintained her grip on Adam. Caught in the violent tug–of–war between the two, Adam felt as though he were being torn apart,

Seizing the moment, Yosef effortlessly lifted Adam back into his arms. Holding him close, Yosef whispered, “It’s alright now. Daddy’s here.”
“Daddy, I was so scared just now!” Adam clung to Yosef’s neck, his face flushed from tears.
Skylar rushed over, her heart aching for Adam. She gently wrapped her arms around him, whispering comforting words. Skylar placed soft kisses on Adam’s forehead, gently patting his back as she said, “Were you scared, sweetie? It’s all right now; it’s over, and you’re safe.”
Adam gradually stopped trembling at her soothing murmurs, allowing only occasional hiccup–like sobs as his crying subsided. Skylar looked down to see that Adam had closed his eyes, with teardrops still clinging to his lashes.
“Who sent you?” Yosef asked coldly, hovering over the woman.
In the corporate world, Yosef had accumulated numerous adversaries–there was no shortage of individuals eager to see him fail or even eliminate him. Yosef couldn’t determine if it was a meticulously planned ambush or merely an unfortunate encounter with a kidnapping ring.
The woman’s face was ghostly pale, slick with moisture–whether it was sweat or tears remained unclear. “Still not talking?” Yosef pressed his foot down hard on the woman’s broken leg, increasing the pressure. “Tell me who sent you?”
The woman cried out in pain, “I’ll talk! I’ll talk! Please, please, lift your foot…” Her voice quivered with agony and desperation.
Yosef scoffed with disdain. “Do you think you can negotiate with me?”
Writhing in agony, the woman’s vision blurred. Through her pain–clouded eyes, Yosef Campbell’s chiseled, handsome face transformed into the terrifying figure of a soul–reaping demon.
Gasping between screams, she pleaded, “No one sent us! We faked an accident to extort money from you and planned to kidnap you to sell to traffickers for an even bigger profit! It was purely for money–I got greedy. I know I was wrong! Please, have mercy on me!”
Realizing this was not the work of his business rivals, Yosef lifted his foot with a dismissive snort, losing all interest in the woman. He proceeded to call the police, reporting the incident and requesting an immediate response to apprehend the criminals.
Then disaster struck. The man that Skylar had kicked down struggled to his feet, his eyes ablaze with hatred as he glared at them, m obscenities under his breath. He pulled a knife from his pocket, biding his time until everyone was focused on Adam before launchin series of quick stabs to vent his anger.

The man charged at Skylar with long strides, knife raised for a vicious slash. Unbeknownst to her, her back faced the attacker, entirely focused on comforting Adam and utterly unaware of the danger lurking behind her. By the time she heard the rapidly approaching footsteps, the attacker was already within arm’s reach, his knife poised to strike.
At this distance, escape was impossible With Adam still clutched in her arms, Skylar found it nearly impossible to dodge. She could only raise her arms in a desperate effort to protect, doing everything she could to keep him safe,

Just as Yosef finished the call, his pupils dilated sharply. Without hesitation, he threw his phone directly at the man. The man didn the the phone coming and got hit square in the face.
