Chapter 267
Not yet sure what caused the child to faint, Skylar held back from moving him and focused on checking his pulse. Just as she was finishing, a furious voice shouted from behind her, “What the hell did you do to my son?”
Skylar released the unconscious boy’s wrist and quickly stepped back with Adam, putting distance between them and the approaching, agitated man. Skylar stated in a calm, professional tone, “There’s been a misunderstanding. When I saw your child suddenly collapse, I came over to check on his condition.”
The man rushed over, hands on his hips, glaring fiercely at Skylar. “Enough of this nonsense! My son is as healthy as a horse–how could he collapse out of nowhere?”
Adam exclaimed,” My Mommy is telling the truth! That boy did faint all by himself–I witnessed it with my own eyes!”
The woman who followed fixed her cold, predatory gaze on Adam, her eyes glinting with unmistakable greed. As her gaze shifted from Adam to Skylar, her eyes sparkled with an even more calculating avarice.
The woman cried out, “You intentionally hurt my son, and now you’re trying to talk your way out of it? Do you think you can avoid taking responsibility? In your dreams!”
The woman gave her husband a significant look. He immediately reached out with his chubby hand, trying to grab Adam’s slender wrist. Skylar dodged and pulled Adam behind her, protecting him. “Your kid isn’t sick at all–this is a scam!”
Her eyes darted nervously before she dramatically collapsed to the ground, wailing uncontrollably. “How could this woman hurt my child and think she could just walk away without consequence? My poor baby was perfectly healthy, and now he’s barely holding on! What am I supposed to do?”
The man growled, “You’re coming with me to the police station. We’ll resolve this in front of the officers.”
He reached for her again, but Skylar sharply slapped his hand away. “Are you really the parent of this child?” she demanded.
‘Kids typically resemble their parents to some extent, but this boy bore no resemblance to them at all. Something’s off, Skylar thought, her suspicion growing.
If they were truly his biological parents, their first instinct when their child collapsed would be to call an ambulance, not to stand here arguing. With all this time wasted in debate, the child could have already been at the hospital.
Skylar straightforwardly asked, “Are you his biological parents?”
The two exchanged a quick, knowing glance. The man scoffed, “It’s none of your business who we are. Just move and come with me quietly–don’t make me get rough.”
Skylar shot him a fierce look and retorted, “Dream on! I’m not leaving today, and you aren’t either!”
“Well, you’ve certainly got a sharp tongue. Let’s see just how sharp it is.” The man pulled a knife from his jacket and moved toward Skylar. “Since you already know I’m no ordinary guy,” he growled, “don’t blame me for being rough.”
Skylar pushed Adam aside and lunged at the man, engaging in a fierce struggle. Adam turned to sprint back for Yosef’s help, only to discover the woman blocking his path. She wore a sickly sweet smile. “Where are you off to, little one?”
Adam shrieked, “Daddy! Help me!”
Yosef found himself stuck at the counter as the stall owner insisted on making small talk. To his irritation, she even tried to set him up with someone.
After managing to fend off her relentless attempts, he finally made his way back to their table, only to discover that both Skylar and Adam had vanished. He scanned the area anxiously, searching for any sign of them.
Just then, Yosef spotted a woman carrying Adam towards a car across the street. His heart leapt as he saw her taking Adam away. Without thinking, he raced toward them.
The woman pressed her hand tightly over Adam’s crying mouth, her voice oozing with feigned sweetness: “Kid. Be good, and I’ll make this easier for you.

A rare treasure like you,” she murmured, her grip tightening. “I’ll ensure you end up somewhere that will fetch the highest price.”
The woman had already determined the best places to fetch them for the highest price. If she completed these two deals, she could avoid taking sirnilar
risks for at least six months.
