Chapter 221
‘Given how much the family values Skylar now, she might even be able to get them to throw me out of the house, Freya thought anxiously.
Just thinking about it made Freya feel her blood turn to ice.
Freya bit her tongue hard, the pain sending
streaming down her face. She sobbed dramatically, “Brada, how could you frame me like this?
A
‘What I just said, that’s not what I meant at all! You totally misunderstood me!‘
Brada’s temper flared. “What nonsense! Sure, my Landishian isn’t perfect, but I know damn well what you meant! I didn’t misunderstand a thing!”
“Brada, I never thought you’d be this kind of person…” Freya sobbed dramatically, wiping away her tears as she ran off.
Brada was left standing there, utterly bewildered.
He really hadn’t done anything to her, so he wondered why she was acting like he’d just bullied her mercilessly
Everyone present knew full well that Freya’s obvious departure was out of sheer guilt.
Yana’s expression darkened.
Freya had been targeting Skylar repeatedly these days. She used to be so well–behaved. Yana wondered what on earth had gotten into her lately.
Yana thought, ‘I really should find time to sit down and have a serious talk with Freya.‘
Carlos was also puzzled by Freya’s inexplicable hostility toward Skylar.
He thought, ‘Could it be that we’ve neglected Freya lately, making her feel left out, which is why she’s been targeting Skylar?”
Carlos sighed heavily.
Harmony at home would bring prosperity. From now on, he decided to treat both daughters equally. If these two kept feuding, there would never be any peace in this house.
Skylar wasn’t particularly bothered by Freya badmouthing her. Ever since her first day back at the Lambert family, Freya had had it out for her. By now, she was used to it.
Skylar thought to herself, ‘Honestly, if Freya’s just badmouthing me behind my back now, that’s practically her being nice.
An awkward silence fell over the room as no one spoke for a moment.
Skylar broke the silence and said, “Dad, Mom, Brada has some matters to attend to. Let me see him out.”
Brada could sense the awkward tension in the room. Taking Skylar’s cue, he offered a polite farewell. “I should get back to work now. I’ll drop by again when I get the chance.”
After saying their goodbyes, Brada and Skylar walked out together.
Brada insisted, “Skylar, I swear I didn’t misunderstand. She was definitely badmouthing you just now.
“Please believe me, I wouldn’t make things up.“/
Skylar turned to him with a gentle smile. “I believe you.”
“Really?” Brada’s face lit up with relief. “As long as you believe me, that’s all that matters.”
Brada was naively sincere, and Skylar genuinely feared that Freya might take advantage of him and hurt him.

Chapter 221
Skylar let out a soft sigh. “Brada, there’s a complicated history between Freya and me. I don’t want to drag you into this, so it’s better if you kern you.
distance from me for now.”
Brada’s smile vanished instantly. “Why?”
Brada said firmly, “Don’t worry, she can’t sway me, and I’ll never let her get to me.”
Afraid Skylar would push him away again, Brada hastily said goodbye and jogged off.
Skylar watched his retreating figure, then rubbed her temples with a sigh.
Brada laid his heart bare before her, holding nothing back. He pursued her with reckless abandon, refusing to take no for an answer.
Such raw, wholehearted devotion was something Skylar had never known before.
Besides, he was her business partner. She didn’t want to be too harsh in rejecting him.
She thought, ‘What if I end up breaking his heart and turn this sweet, hopeless romantic into someone who gives up on love for good? Wouldn’t that make me the worst?
‘What if he gets so heartbroken and wants to call off our business cooperation? What should I do?‘
Losing so much over such a small issue just didn’t seem worth it.
She thought, ‘If I’m too gentle, he’ll just take it as mixed signals and keep coming. But being blunt isn’t an option either. What a headache.
Skylar stood at the doorway, the cold wind brushing against her as she thought for a moment. ‘Fine, just let it be. No use trying to stop him,‘ she sighed to herself.
