Chapter 213
I’m her husband and the father of her child. How dare you try to poach her right in front of me?”
“So what if I’m trying to poach her?” Brada shrugged, unfazed. “If you swing your shovel right, there’s no wall you can’t dig through.”
Brada glanced at Yosef and said with a knowing smile, “By the way, judging from your interaction just now, your relationship with Skylar doesn’t seem as solid as I imagined.”
Brada chuckled. “Looks like it won’t take much effort for me to steal her away from you.”
“Mr. Fleur, Skylar is with me. You won’t be taking her from me, that’s simply not happening.”
Brada shrugged. “Bring it on.”
Yosef narrowed his eyes. “You won’t get what you want.”
Brada remained unfazed. Tipping his chin up defiantly, he challenged, “We’ll see who gets the last laugh. Frankly, I don’t feel comfortable sharing space with you. Excuse me.”
Brada rose abruptly and strode out of the reception room.
Yosef set his cup down hard on the table, his frustration barely contained.
Adam said, “Dad, your competition seems really strong. You’d better step up your game and get Mom to forgive you soon, or else she might get snatched away, and then you’ll have no one to blame but yourself.”
Deep down, Adam secretly wished Skylar and Yosef would get back together.
“I know, don’t worry. No one’s taking Mommy away.” Yosef gave Adam’s cheek an affectionate pinch and said calmly, “Be my lookout, alright?”
“Got it, Dad.”
Yosef stayed the whole time, reading stories and playing games with Adam.
When Skylar finished her work and came over, she saw Yosef holding Adam in his arms, reading to him in his deep, soothing voice.
Once, Skylar had dreamed of moments like this. But five years ago, that dream was buried along with all the painful memories.
The sight struck a chord, bringing back those long–cherished dreams she once held, including a happy family of three sharing warm little moments together.
Skylar didn’t have the heart to interrupt their little family moment. She was just about to quietly head back to work when Adam spotted her. “Mommy!” he called out. “Mommy, come quick! Daddy’s telling a story, let’s listen together!”
Adam eagerly beckoned his mom, practically bouncing with excitement, he was just about ready to jump up and drag her over to sit down.
Skylar approached and asked, “What are you two reading?”
Adam giggled and reached out to Skylar. “It’s the Little Mermaid story, Mommy! Hold me!”
Yosef said gently, “Mommy has been working so long, she must be tired now. Come here, let Daddy hold you, okay?”
Adam gave a little nod and said softly, “Okay, Daddy. Mommy, come closer. Adam wants to snuggle with you.”
Skylar hesitated.
if I sit there, I’ll definitely end up brushing against Yosef,‘ she thought.

Chapter 213
Mommy. Adam tugged at her sleeve impatiently. “Come here now!”
Alright, Skylar finally relented, not wanting to disappoint Adam, and reluctantly took a seat beside them.
Skylar’s shoulder brushed against Yosef’s as she sat down, and Adam finally got his wish, snuggling contentedly against Mommy’s arm
Adam wrapped his arms around Mommy’s arm, his eyes half–closed with sleepiness. “Daddy, where are you in the story now?”
Yosef gently turned the page and continued reading the story aloud.
His voice had a magical, lulling quality that made people grow sleepier with each passing word.
Skylar’s eyelids grew heavier and heavier until, at last, they fluttered shut as she unconsciously leaned against Yosef’s shoulder and drifted off to sleep.
Yosef immediately stopped reading, holding perfectly still. In a whisper, he asked Adam, “Is Skylar asleep?”
Adam whispered, “Mommy’s asleep.”
Yosef carefully set the book aside and gently said to Adam, “Could you go get a blanket for Mommy so she doesn’t get cold?”
Adam wriggled out of his dad’s arms and went to find Sophie, “Sophie, can I have a blanket? Mommy fell asleep, and I don’t want her to get cold.”
“Alright, I’ll go get one for you, sweetie,” Sophie said gently.
Sophie quickly returned with a blanket and handed it to Adam. “Here you go, Adam,” she said softly.
“Thank you, Sophie,” Adam said in his sweetest little voice.
Sophie’s heart melted at Adam’s cuteness. She couldn’t help but ruffle his hair. “You are welcome,” she said tenderly.
