Freya shook her head. “Mom, I’m not dating him. We’re just friends, that’s all.”
Yana raised an eyebrow teasingly. “Not dating yet? So he’s trying to win you over?
“Sweetheart, if he’s not trying to court you, why else would he bring you gifts every single day?”
Freya still denied it, “Mom, it’s not like that at all. He just gives me gifts to cheer me up, that’s all.
“Mom, I’m just feeling under the weather and can’t attend classes right now. He’s only worried I’d get bored at home, so he came up with this way by cheer me up.”
Yana nodded in understanding. “I see. But honestly, I don’t think he’s a decent guy. You’d better keep your distance from kim if potable
Yana was there the last time Bud came over. Everything he said was just empty rhetoric, nothing of real substance.
She felt that such people had grandiose aims but puny abilities. They’d never accomplish anything significant and were bound to take wrong turns.
Yana had always been an open–minded mother. She never meddled in her children’s love lives, but would offer a word of guidance when necessary
Inwardly, Freya scoffed, ‘As if I’d ever fall for such a disgusting creep.‘
Freya put on an obedient face and said, “I know, Mom. Don’t worry, I’ve got it all figured out.”
Yana nodded and left it at that.
Meanwhile, Bud did what he always did, took screenshots of their chat logs, compiled them together, and forwarded them to his mother.
The next moment, his mother Eleanor Fowler called. “Son, you’re already tight on cash. How can you afford to buy her so many things?”
Bud was annoyed by his mother’s short–sightedness. “Mom, no pain, no gain. I’m just making a small investment for big returns.”
Eleanor grumbled, “Alright, alright. But you’ve given her so many gifts already, how come she’s never once thought to give you anything back? And she calls herself a rich girl? How stingy can she be?
“I’m just saying, son, if you end up with her, you really need to do something about her stingy ways.
“You need to make her hand over all her money to you. Girls shouldn’t be carrying cash around.”
Bud didn’t see anything wrong with his mother’s words, in fact, he wholeheartedly agreed. “Mom, you’ll have to teach her a thing or two when the time comes,” he said approvingly.
Eleanor reassured her son, “Don’t worry, son. I’ll make sure she becomes the perfect wife for you.”
Eleanor asked again, “So, when are you two going to make it official?”
She thought, ‘With my son being so proactive, how can Ms. Lambert just sit there without making a move? Isn’t she afraid s him away?‘
At this point, Bud sighed and said, “Not yet, Mom/”

Over the past few days, he felt their bond had only grown deeper, yet neither had spoken up. They remained at a standoff, with just that final barrier

It was just a matter of who would make the first move.

“Hurry up and ask her, get things settled soon. Then bring her home so your dad and I can meet her,
“Then find a way to get her pregnant, that’ll make sure she can’t escape.
“Anyway, the sooner the better. If you wait too long, who knows what might happen?”
Bud agreed wholeheartedly. “Mom, I got it. Just wait and see, I promise I’ll bring Skylar home
to meet you and Dad as soon as possible.”
After some small talk with his mother, Bud hung up.
Bud was restless, his mind all over the place.
