Tyne and Bud perched on the edge of their seats, visibly ill at ease, too nervous to look around or move, and even hesitant to touch the food.
Carlos invited them to help themselves, but they remained still, too nervous to move.

“Skylar, have you eaten yet?” Yana stood up and walked over, asking with concern, “Would you like to join us?”
Skylar glanced at the two unfamiliar faces at the table. “No thanks, Mom,” she replied, “I’ve already eaten at the office.”
Skylar lifted the documents in her hand. “You guys go ahead and eat. I’ve got work to attend to, so I’ll head out now.”
Bud’s eyes were glued to Skylar, following her every move, so mesmerized he barely dared to blink.
Skylar was breathtakingly beautiful.
Her skin was so delicate and flawless. Her eyes were as clear as a mountain spring, with slightly upturned corners that lent her a natural allure. With every subtle glance, her gaze brimmed with captivating charm.
His heart practically flew out of the Lambert mansion after Skylar.
Skylar shot him a sharp, disapproving frown at the way he was staring at her like a lovesick fool.

After lunch, Freya dropped Tyne off first.
Only Freya and Bud remained in the car.

“Of course,” Freya replied with a feigned smile.
Freya sent Bud Skylar’s contact details. Bud immediately sent her a friend request, then waited eagerly for her to accept.
He spent the whole way home wondering how he’d greet Skylar once she accepted his friend request, but even after he got back, she still hadn’t replied.
Bud couldn’t hold back his impatience. “Freya,” he asked, a hint of anxiety in his voice, “does your sister usually not accept friend requests from strangers?”
Freya bit her lip in feigned dismay. “Oh no, I completely forgot about that detail.”
Freya handed Bud another contact and said with feigned innocence, “Oops, my bad, that was Skylar’s work number I gave you earlier.”
Freya explained, “That’s her professional account. She only adds colleagues there, not personal friends.”
Bud nodded. “Oh, I see,” he said, a hint of resignation in his voice.
