Chapter 170
The blond thug’s lackey took two steps forward but froze when he met Skylar’s glacial stare, not daring to advance ariother inch.
“What the hell are you doing? Useless bastards, every damn one of you!” the blond thug yelled,
Skylar kicked him sharply and snapped, “Shut up! One more word and I’ll cut your tongue out.”
The blond thug clutched his injury, too scared to say another word.
Seeing he’d finally quieted down, Skylar slowly pulled out her phone and said in a deliberately trembling voice, “Hello, officer? I just ran into some gangsters on Lincoln Road. There are five of them, and I’m so scared. Please, can you come quickly?”
The thugs across from her gaped in disbelief.
They thought, ‘Geez, who should really be scared now?‘
Skylar swept them with a cold glance.
Instantly, terror flashed across their faces. They all clamped their hands over their mouths, hiding their tongues as if afraid she might just cut them off in a fit of displeasure.
Trembling under Skylar’s intimidating presence and too afraid to abandon their blond leader, the group stood frozen in place, helplessly waiting for the police to arrive.
When the police arrived, Skylar had already withdrawn her foot and was standing off to the side, head lowered, looking every bit the picture of
innocence.
Seizing the moment, the blond thug leapt up, intent on taking revenge on Skylar, only for the police to walk in right then and catch him red–handed.
The officers rushed in and landed two solid punches, knocking the blond thug to the ground. After confirming he was no longer a threat, they pinned him down and slapped the handcuffs on.
“Ms. Lambert, don’t be afraid. They won’t do anything to you anymore,” the officer reassured her.
“Thank you, officer,” she replied, deliberately letting her voice quiver, slightly.
The blond thug protested angrily, “What the hell? I didn’t hit her, she beat me up! Just look at my face, all these bruises are her doing!”
The officer sized up Skylar’s petite frame, then glanced at the blond thug’s hulking physique as he struggled, and fell silent for a beat.
“Officer, they were just fighting among themselves. Nothing to do with me,” Skylar said.
She could already guess who had sent these thugs, but if she revealed her real skills, that would not be fun.
The blond thug and his gang were stunned.
‘She’s lying through her teeth with a straight face!‘ they thought, shocked that Skylar could be so shameless.
Skylar’s warning glare swept over them, making their tongues go numb. Instantly, they clamped their mouths shut.
With them keeping their mouths shut, the police took Skylar’s
explanation at face value. “Gang fighting, that’s an aggrav
ffense.
The blond thug and his gang were hauled away by the police.
Skylar was escorted by the police back to the hotel booked by the film crew.
Victor, holding some food while knocking on the door, spotted Skylar’s return and hurried over. “Skylar, where have you been so late at night?”

Skylar replied casually, “Just got a bit hungry and went out for a snack
Victor gave a wry smile and held up the food in his hand. “So this was all for nothing then?”
“Don’t worry about it. Are you hungry? I can eat a bit more with you.”
Victor nodded reluctantly.
“Did anything happen when you were out just now? I thought I heard sirens,” Victor asked, sounding concerned.
Afraid he might worry, Skylar shook her head. “Nope. Why? Did something happen?”
“Whatever,” Victor said casually, “Who cares? It’s none of our business anyway.”
Though Skylar claimed she was keeping Victor company during the meal, she only took a single bite. The rest all ended up in his stomach.
Victor, now energized after the meal, said, “Can’t sleep, Skylar. Let’s go over the male lead’s character and see if my understanding does him justice.”
Skylar nodded. “Sure.”
Victor went back to his room to fetch the script, then the two of them sat down on the sofa to discuss it.
In the building opposite the hotel, a dim red light glowed in the darkness, a hidden camera silently recording everything.
The next day, filming resumed with Victor in peak form, he aced every scene in a single take.
Thanks to his sharp performance, the morning’s shoot wrapped up ahead of schedule.
