Chapter 159
The wound wasn’t deep, and the bleeding had stopped, but it looked quite scary.
Skylar asked, “Are you planning on losing your hand or what?”
Yosef faltered. “…”
Skylar let go of his hand and walked out of the hospital room.
Yosef stepped forward instinctively, then sighed softly. It seemed he made her angry again.
He sat down on the bench by the bed, his eyes blankly fixed on the child as he thought about how to make Skylar forgive him.
She already hated him, and now he made her even angrier. It was like adding fuel to the fire.
Skylar retumed with a first–aid kit. She placed it on the cabinet by the bed. “Hand.”
Yosef immediately snapped out of his thoughts at the sound of her voice. “You went to get the medical kit?”
“What else?” Skylar’s tone was cold. “Give me your hand. I’ll treat the wound.”
Not wanting to provoke her again, Yosef obediently stretched out his hand and did everything she told him.
As she applied medicine, the sting made Yosef frown.
She noticed, but didn’t say anything. Her movements became gentler, and she even blew softly on the wound.
Yosef asked, “Skylar, you don’t actually hate me that much, do you?”
Without even thinking, Skylar replied, “I hate you.”
The pain of the past couldn’t just be forgotten so easily. It was like a scar that never really healed, always leaving a mark.
Yosef asked, “Then why were you so worried about me?”
She replied, “You got hurt saving me. Of course I have to take responsibility.”
Yosef fell silent.
After a long pause, he finally spoke again. “Skylar, is there any chance we could go back to how we were?”
Skylar let out a cold laugh. “Impossible.”
She finished wrapping up the wound quickly, then leaned against the cabinet with her arms crossed and stared at him. “Yosef, don’t tell me… you like
me?”
Yosef looked up, his gaze defiant. “So what if I do?”
Skylar laughed. ‘Did he forget everything that happened between us?‘
Back then, she had loved him deeply, but he hadn’t loved her. He hurt her over and over again, until her love was completely worn down.
Now he came back, saying he liked her. Skylar thought it was hilarious.
Her face was full of mockery. “Yosef, have you forgotten everything you did to me?”

He gave a self–deprecating smile. “We were married for years. You were always good to me, day in and day out. No matter how badly treated you, you never got angry or left.”
He added, “I was moved, at times. But I was conflicted. I felt I shouldn’t fall for you, so I used indifference to cover it up.”
Skylar cut straight to the heart of the matter. “Yosef, we got to this point because you never trusted me.”
Her voice was cold. “I told you before. I never schemed against you, never hurt Elianna. But you didn’t believe me.”
